At Google things got done but it was slowed down from messing with testing frameworks, code reviews, and build systems (not that this is a bad thing, just not what you expect when you want to write code). Coworkers were all very good at wha

Same reason I don't work at Google anymore. Picking up money off the ground all day is incredibly dull.

Yea, I agree on all those points and that is what the company pushed back with. They compared the requested stake with what YC got (and it was 3 founders). I was (and still am) at the point where the salary was less important and if I was g

I do not think they are duds, quite the opposite, they look like profitable ideas. Just incredibly boring to work on. In the first two pages of workatastartup it is 90% web. There were two data science roles and one embedded role. I think t

Is anyone else unimpressed with the ideas being funded? I look at Work at a Startup and it is just new web frontends on existing industries. I'm sure that makes money but holy hell is it boring. Some are working on cool things, but the

Surveillance capitalism was only impactful because there is no way to pay small amounts of money to view a digital good. No one is going to applaud you or your employer for setting up the greatest invasion of privacy the world has ever know

I do security R&D. I chose security in uni because it sounded sexy. Honestly, you sound like a pessimist. I don't work with networking often and only read papers I'm interested in. Same for neural nets, I could rattle off 3 id

People with celiac often have IBS and are often misdiagnosed with IBS. [1] They are not disjoint problems and often difficult to differentiate. It seems really reckless to offer this as a treatment without requiring people to consult a phys

Someone looking to fix their gas or regular diarrhea isn't going to be able to distinguish between gut inflammation and not. They're just going to be searching how to fix IBS. I don't see how your app would distinguish betwee

I am aware that gluten is not a FODMAP, I can not eat high fructose foods. Gluten causes my body to attack itself which has damaged my small intestine. That has caused fructose malabsorption.

I believe the IBS product is dangerous. There are foods I cannot digest because my gut has been damaged from celiac disease (high fructose foods). Even if Nerva is effective at treating IBS (perhaps, especially if it is effective) that woul

As a celiac who cannot digest some FODMAPs this sounds like complete snake oil. The answer is not eating the foods. I meditate. It would be really reckless if someone told me if I just meditated hard enough I could eat gluten again. You don

Please, if you have IBS try concrete treatments like elimination diets with a focus on FODMAPs. Hypnotherapy will not heal your gut.

I bought your book very recently! I was reading the online version and it kept losing my place, so I bought the ebook version for the epub. It was recommended on Twitter when I asked for Rust resources.

Developer advocates are sales people for an API. It does not necessarily need to be open source. For example, Twilio may have a developer advocate to help people get started with their product. In other cases it is about an ecosystem. For T

I think protestors should be able to be armed with whatever police are. If they're alright firing it at someone they should be alright getting hit by it. This would be really cool because it would turn protests into paintball matches.
