IDK we have record immigration in Canada and a housing shortage. I am not sure the solution is more immigration. We do have a productivity problem though. At some point the working population will find equilibrium when the baby boomer gener

OS for home NAS I highly recommend Unraid. I have enough trouble at work dealing with OS upgrades, commands, configurations, etc. I am happy that Unraid just works and is worth every penny, huge community of plugins, etc.

A lot of people outside rich outside run old computers and like I said webviews usually are the one first released with the OS and dont get updated.

Not really PWA will use your browser of choice which is likely up to date. Tauri often is run on system with very old webviews like 6-7 years old.

Yup this was also our first impression. Wait until you have users (no snark here, but its the reality). We do have around 1/3 of our users on Linux and WebKitGTK is plainly bad. Our application is complex I will give you that, but it i

We might do it, I don't necessarily want to push bad publicity on Tauri since I want them to succeed in the end :)

We just finished migrating away from Tauri to Electron for our desktop application after running Tauri for 2 years. We are a rust shop so it makes sense to use Tauri, but I can't recommend it for a startup use until they allow packagin

Would be nice if they could first hire all the smart engineers (that Mozilla laid off) to continue working on the language itself. Async is still a half finished mess even for people that use it every day. And that is my main annoyance but

Its refreshing to see all the various JS engines that are out there for various usecases. I have been working on providing quickjs with more node compatible API through llrt [1] for embedding into applications for plugins. [1] https:/

Why are people still complaining about this? It doesn't try to pass as OSS when it is not, it makes an effort at transparency when they didn't need to, seems bootstrap with an entrepreneurial spirit. That should celebrate, kudos!

It would help for sure to have a lead on this. Still there are a lot of opinions on the way forward for async so it would still be slow I think. I did get annoyed recently by the trait async stabilization that promised us a good trait-varia

This just doesn't scale and it would have been a non starter because it would break so much exiting code. Mem swap is just one of the ways to move via mutable references, there are many many others. Option::take is one that I use quite

Its cool, but it also means the development of the language is very very slow. Async is still half backed and super complex, and I say that as a guy who has written rust code 40h/week for the past 3 years.

Is there an alternative to google location history that is privacy friendly? I like the feature during trips to record where I went. Maybe just me but when I get a bit nostalgic I like to retrace my steps and find again some lost memories&#

I dont want to sound rude, but as a bootstrap founder it kinda boggles my mind how much money people can raise for a product like ferretdb. I just don't see how it can make VC level return without at the very least changing licenses wh

Personnaly been using the open source AnySoftKeyboard for the past 8 years without issue. It is very flexible so I am wondering what that brings really to the table. They could have sponsored AnySoftKeyboard instead.

What privacy implication? You already buy the NFC with a credit or debit card so if they want to track the card use they can.

They are going away soon (TM), the tech is cool but they are impractical. I will be happy to use my credit card or phone. Too many times I have been stuck in 15-20 minutes queues to buy those tickets and you cant refill them with an app...

How expensive is the electricity in your area? I think here it is so cheap that might not be worth the installation cost (though that did drop a whole lot lately).
