I view it as a wonderful collaborator, it tells me automatically were my code is wrong and it gets better with every release, I can't complain really. I think a segfault is a big price to pay, but it depends on the criticality of it I

This is really the crust of the argument. I absolutely love the Rust compiler for example, going back to Zig would feel a regression to me. There is a whole class of bugs that my brain now assumes the compiler will handle for me.

Good PR, but AbortController doesn't really help with stopping the server from processing the request. I have seen so much of this type of search that just continues processing in the backend even if the client has long gone caring.

I didnt do a formal test, but we use quickjs-ng/rquickjs as the basis for our scripting engine. Even with 20+ rust modules loaded it takes less than 4ms to spawn and we spawn a lot of them (multiple per http request that runs through t

Both are active now and they are diverging. It is kinda sad but Bellard seems to want to do his own thing. PRs are traded sometimes but as time goes on they will become different projects, I did suggest a name change ( https://git

That comment came straight from the 2001. Seriously the world has moved on from hackers == bad, but the legislation has not and it is time it changes.

AWS created it and it is still under their name but under the labs thing which means it is a "side project". Unsure how I would phrase it, but just wanted to acknowledge the community and businesses that are building it (maybe ste

I would like to rectify that LLRT is mostly community contributed and one guy from AWS (Hi Richard!). There are many businesses using LLRT modules (I worked a lot on making it modular) and rquickjs. I am a maintainer of both and I wrote a c

My understanding is that Harmony OS is a full fledge OS at this point. We will start hearing more about it when devs will need to support it for their mobile apps that ship to LATAM and Africa.

Been using it for the past two years and supporting the project. I personally love it but you do have to tinker a bit once in a while so I would hesitate to put it in the hands of my parents (though I bought them pixel just in case). Google

IDK, I have built a plugin system myself. It is very hard to have a plugin system that is both powerful, versatile and sandboxed. Like with with anything you can pick 2. Most of the plugins I use in vscode like prettier, rust analyzer, etc

100% agree with OP, to make a living in BBH you can't go hunting on VDP program that don't pay anything all day. That means you will have a lot of low hanging fruits on those programs. I don't think LLM replace humans, they d

Since I am the cofounder of a mostly manual based testing in that space we do follow the new AI hackbots closely. There is a lot of money being raised (Horizon3 at 100M, Xbow at 87M, Mindfort will probably soon raise). The future is definit

That reads like something written pre LLM, pre mass layoffs and pre section 174. Reality is that engineers have way less bargaining power that they used to. Aside, as a small startup I am generally upfront with the salary since if you are n

I am probably doing something wrong but I hate agents for coding. I like the autocomplete and the prompt to generate snippets but when it starts modifying code in many files so fast all at once, tries a bunch of stuff and never know when to

EU IDK but for Canada I am 99% certain it is the exact same units. I am guessing that it's mostly that the US is litigious so they want to avoid getting sued. I will probably get rid of my mine out of precaution.

On the contrary it is a big big issue if you have a complex web app like we do. It was a PITA to deal with user bugs in a specific macos version with a 8y out of date webview. And the performances of webkitgtk are horrible on Linux.

When you read the Bun codebase it is scary how they ignore edgecases. The codebase of Deno is actually legit, I used it as reference for LLRT modules. This is really a case were Rust will shine compare to Zig.

I think that no matter that they do you will always find people complaining. That is humanity's favorite sport. Even when it's free and open source people still complain. Making software for individual consumers is freaking hard.

I really don't want to critisize OP since building stuff for yourself is always a good mentality. But lets be realistic, 1000$ over 10 years is nothing. It will always cost more if you consider your own time for maintenance long term.

The rust reimplementation of the node modules is interesting to read. I took some ideas for the llrt runtime modules. As a comparison Bun Zig implementation is scarily ignoring a lot of edge cases.
