Because building the right executive team is hard... who do you go to for great guys? Based on this the current generation of telco execs is a no go. So do you look outside the USA? Now we're talking hard work for a pretty risky venture. Th

Agreed, especially when I can't find ex-co workers who I want to follow up. Except my resume is better (apart from the few recommendations I have). LinkedIn format is a little stifled, but it is great for checking out other people as it is

I don't have much experience with VPS either, but I'm using Linode and finding their platform super easy to use. When I asked around my friends, http://www.wizzvps.com/ was recommended if I didn't need the 'support' of Linode.

Great stuff! Didn't see anything like "invite your friends to this room" buttons... if they were there they should be clearer.

Do you know what that would cost? I'm just wondering if you're talking $300 consultation, $1000 or what? Even 0.5% ($1500) spent carefully on advice could turn out to be the best thing possible.

I'd rather have a nice clean interface where I can filter relevant articles than go near that cluttered rats nest of links called Reddit. So far so good. Concentrate a bit more on the filtering/finding new topics a bit more. You could becom

Add analytics. I'm not sure how, but I believe there is a market out there for twitter tools to measure stuff in searches/twitter streams. Integrated with a client sort of makes sense to me. But I'm no social marketer, so I may be way off

Nice one. Does this mean an API might be just the other side of SXSW? :-P P.S. This post dedicated to Tristan, who asks "what's up with you commenting on every Lanyrd thing on HackerNews?!"

Agreed. I read that to mean "when you produce a bank statement with €5,000 in the account, we will pay you the first half".

I watched the video. It's too long: I got the point quickly, I wanted to know how much it would cost after 25s, and had to wait until 1:09 to hear that. Then 1:40 to find out my minimum investment. That info isn't "above the fold". Stuff li

I feel for you. One of my perceived barriers to my on-the-side startup idea is this very thing. If you get to fill in the form again, declare yourself as a director of the company /you will form/ to hold your IP. That's all, do NOT list the

I taught myself "programming". By the time I attended university I had written a few small programs/toys. When we were formally taught Java at university, there were 10 hours of tutored labs available. I certainly didn't need any help to do

Off topic: I've always thought that the top talent in India either: a) left to a G8 type country or b) worked at an Indian start-up, that will in times to come, be better placed to understand hyper-scaling than those working soley in the US

Pretty similar here too. For work, with a nice A4 pad: I only date if it's a meeting/phone call. Otherwise I'm a bit lax, never found that to be a problem. I don't distinguish between scratch and "tidy". Tidy means it probably should be in
