Indeed. One project I had a boring task with nebulous requirements, and said as much: "I find this hard to know when I'm done, and progress is slow. What's next when I am finished". The response? "More of the same!" said with a s * eatin

Agreed. It's clearly not zombie proof, as there is no attached garage with a APC in ;-) Clearly built to withstand a non-casual attack until the police get there. But once they are on the roof, I suspect it is game over, as it appears there

That was my first thought too... "if they are looking to appeal to people who want to fix stuff... they are doing it right". Otherwise I'd say that's a minor fail by the designer of that page.

Yes. In the UK, as with most of the world, we embraced text messaging (12years ago I was txting every day). In the USA, this took a lot longer, with phones often note supporting SMS.

Isn't the expectation that the miners will compete to confirm transactions, and there is an expectation they will work for small transaction fees?

So this TLD (I think it's safe to call it as such), was host to a lot of noise. But there must have been some signal there too. Whilst I appreciate less spam in my Google results, and I certainly appreciate more safety when browsing search

Indeed, his twitter stream has him complaining about people asking him to hurry up :P ( http://twitter.com/#!/comex/status/84126363598065664 ) The leak prompted quick action, lest Apple close the bus sized hole.

Indeed, and Comex gave them a heads up ~3.5 weeks ago that something was amiss in PDF. Let's hope they found it and are just going through the last testing cycles for the new patch?!

I have to disagree that they are not suitable for the "non technically savvy". Programs like ICQ, Zone Alarm, MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Skype, Windows Update, etc. have been doing bottom right "pop up, on top" notifications since Wind

Agreed that this is a much better alternative than the one in the OP. I don't quite see why the OP is getting so many upvotes when the UX really isn't very nice.

This one made me go "Huh?" and reread. I don't understand why you'd need a custom HTTP server. It might be overly simplistic, but just write a module for nginx? Surely that would have been faster. You get controllable timeouts, you could tw

How common in the press and PR industry is the "exclusive"? For UK national newspapers, an exclusive might be done for a front page, or page 2, 3, 5, story, but that's probably the exception not the norm. Now in magazines, I suspect exclusi

Yes, this has been around for a quite a while. I was playing with this over 6 months ago. It looks good, and is OK to use. The docs/examples could be cleaner. Unfortunately it seems a lot of things, like custom labels, etc. are not as simpl

Fascinating view from the other side. Though 8 yaun sounds like too low a profit margin. That said, for small operations like this you must wonder if they actually know their cost per device.

Well that sounds like the problem of "I learnt it wrong the first time". Looking back at issues I've had, learning it right the first time has been very important. If I've skimmed over some concept, and learned enough to apply it simply, wh

In the comments I'm noticing no one ask: when should or shouldn't you use an ORM? Most of the discussions are over the merits of either approach, when to me it seems an ORM has many places it belongs. And a few it doesn't. For most database

I think the author's point is that by the time you have gone to learn all of the complexities of an ORM, and all the steps you must take to sidestep when you can't bend it to shape... you could have much more easily written it by hand.
