As someone who would have been ran into multiple times by texting drivers, had I not been paying full attention to what was happening around me, I wish these sorts of laws were rigorously pursued. However, I think policing of this really on

Sorry, I thought this was an April Fools! I saw "Infinitely Faster", and though uhh huh, of course. Then I clicked to the next page and "Note: Cap'n Proto is not ready yet" made me even more sure... only when I came here was it clear that t

Another random question: does this require any special software on the managed servers? For example, HP iLO Advanced, for additional server management features? (Don't think so, but worth asking).

Plus a per-server charge after the initial 5(?). The Register article was questioning the cost of the additional server license (5 - 10k per node), but having seen a lot of the pricing out there, it seems inline to be a little cheaper than

Having a hardware device reduces the number of things you have to worry about not being under your control. For example, what networking are you going to use? Arista? Great. What's their latest supported APIs for Quantum? Well, they just

Yes, I think we both read that article correctly. I'm saying that a rack full of servers is all hooked up to a single controller. You then have multiple, interconnected controllers, each one connecting a rack of servers. This is meant to gi

This looks like a great little system. Congrats to all the team. So many questions! The most important one: Is that Patrick Stewart doing the voice over in your video? :-) My only concern with the design is that it's not clear that clusteri

Again, I know senior developers that were pulling down £65k and generous bonuses. I know software architects with 15 years experience who are earning about the same too. But to me, they are the outliers, of what is a market that is generall

So a post based on "who you know". Most grad jobs in London will top out at £30k. http://www.technojobs.co.uk/search.phtml/graduate-developer/... Those that are higher are not real "junior" jobs - there's one that advertises "up to £50k",

Numbers I see for "generic PHP" rarely go above 40... http://www.technojobs.co.uk/search.phtml/php/searchfield/loc... There are a few above 40, but they don't sound mid-level/generic.

You are right, I'm almost certainly exhibiting selection bias. As we all know, the best jobs don't even go on the wider market, such as jobs sites, but are filled by word of mouth referrals, or conversations at events. But if I go and searc

For London I strongly disagree. When start-ups, profitable ones, are offering £35k + bonus + stock options (worth £0), for senior developers, in Central London, there's not a talent shortage. Similarly skilled developers are getting £35k+ &

But this is wrong. The $50k would have gone through many dilutions. He may have owned 1/3 of Apple. There is no way that today he would have 1/3rd. That said, it does raise the question: if he had gone in to Apple, would Jobs have ever left
