I never got this argument. What the point of "clean history"? History is for log of work, not for being nice read.

Indeed. It is important to pursue research even if there is no immediate benefit from it. In this case it is even touching on a gateway technology I would call marvellous. Stable high temperature superconductor material would change so much

I think hope is that structures formed at such high pressures would be quasi-stable at atmospheric pressure. Such behavior is no unheard of. Such pressures is not something our materials can handle on macro scopes. Yet. But they are natural

I did a small ask around the room in the office, no one heard about Knoppix. Good for them, I guess.

Unpopular opinion: real problem here is unreasonable restrictions on taking pet animals with you. In US it's a particular problem, because you can't make rules based on judgments on the spot. Allow pets in restaurants/planes,

This is why we can’t have nice things. it’s upsetting that we have to build rules and laws around “worst” behaviors.

Destroying a planet doesn’t seem like a big deal for space fairing civilization. Honestly there’s much more room and resources outside surfaces of planets

FYI, Apple pays taxes on profits it makes in USA. Problem is with foreign income, which by some weird quirk in US law code must be taxed as well in USA. So yes, person in Italy subscribing to Apple Music doesn't build US roads and citi

Apple has premium only streaming service. No surprise it's better than freemium Spotify. Reportedly from what I googled Spotify has about third of active users paying any subscription fee, while it's 100% for Apple.

I love how they're comparing Spotify's 10$ vs Apple Music 10$ subscription. Completely forgetting that Apple Music is premium only service, while Spotify' minority of paying customers carry majority of freeloaders. Very &quot

It's almost as it is an inverse pyramid scheme: you have a lot of stuff, so now you have to convince a lot of people that what you have is worth something, by giving them the stuff. Now they are interested in stuff being valuable too.
