That is very nice of you. I try to buy things that I actually need and use, so to me the $600 pocket fitting computer is still pretty ridiculous.

Tell me one thing you do with a $600 computer that fits in your pocket that you cant do with a $200 computer that fits in your pocket.

I think there are good odds we will see privacy related whistleblowing happening at US tech giants in the coming years.

Once the tools get built all you need are robots. As Seinfeld says walk into any parking lot these days and all the cars look alike.

Students can ask all the questions they want (of Facebook and Goldman Sachs too). At the end of the day the only question that matters is who is going to pay off those little student loans.

I think we have passed the point where anyone else can actually build an engine that returns results just matching, forget about surpassing, Google quality. Since we are where we are, might as well move on to phase two and allow people to

The best way to achieve that noble goal would be to open up their search index (unlimited API access) and build a marketplace around search, just as they have around Android, Youtube and Chrome. Search has a very long way to go and they can

Good to hear. Sometimes I feel, in the "consume time and divide people" department, the Internet beats TV hands down. Also it is one of those easy roads to take, as it keeps the kids fully occupied. So it's nice to see what y

How much time now gets spent on desktop/laptop/smartphone per day per family member? Just curious if these numbers jump after the TV goes.

You don't have to think of it as a motivator or something that makes you feel minuscule. Given the time people are spending on the internet these days, exposed to things no other generation was, much of this happens subconsciously.

Well said. All I'll add is, thanks to the internet, there is much more comparing going on. An unhealthy amount imho. This is a great motivator for some people. For others not so much. One needs to figure out where one falls in the spec

I trust Google much more than any other monopoly out there. Just contrast their behavior, with other companies sitting on mountains of cash. They don't need to do a lot of the things they do. Yet they do it. That's a big positive.
