It's not a solution to all of Linux's problems, but elementaryOS has good usability for me.

I agree with the parent on the scrolling issue, it's quite confusing and unusable to me.

It highlights a very serious issue, though - an increasing number of services use all kinds of crazy DRM that only result in great inconveniences for the paying user. Compare that to the relative simplicity of having your music, books, etc.

I don't use Slack, but perhaps people prefer its UX?

Mm? I don't see how one could think Microsoft has become any less nefarious than the past. Windows 10 is the prime example of this. If anything, I'm getting more worried.

This is nice, but for me it's never going to be a good option since it doesn't have any native Linux support...

I'm quite confused as to what this does... my knowledge of Japanese is quite severely lacking, I'm afraid.

Skype has been getting worse and worse over the years. Personally I've switched to Telegram for chats, and I'll be looking for alternatives as far as voice calls are concerned.

I think that, when it comes to secure and private communications, you can't really make any sort of claim in that direction if you're not open source.

I think Telegram does really well on both functionality and UX, but is really brought down by their closed-source policy. I'm not sure what the motivations behind that are.

I think that kind of cultural expression is something we need to protect and keep alive. A future when all of our communities, all of our social interactions, are routed two a small amount of services hosted by great companies is one I don&

I didn't know him before reading this, but I have followed and enjoyed fail0verflow's work. It is a very sad loss. Edit: I actually realized who he is now, as I only knew of him by the name "bushing". A shame to see a gr

I had the unfortunate experience of owning an early 2011 MacBook Pro. The graphics card broke down multiple times (three, iirc) requiring a 500€ logic board replacement. This was a widespread issue, and we, the affected users, repeatedly as

I think the fundamental problem with the European Union is the way it's organized and governed. The reason we don't see a wholly European solution to many of these problems is due to the fact that the decision making progress is f

I think your default text size is a bit too tiny (I'm on a 1920x1080 15" display). Although that's a problem for HN as well.

I don't share some of the needs the author has, however, for game development, I like to use Haxe. Mainly because it allows for very easy crossplatform development (to both PC and mobile OSes)

My experience (and that of most people I know) with Apple chargers is that they break all the time despite the utmost care. I would hardly call that an engineering marvel. Edit: I should be more specific - I wasn't referring to the cha
