There are business-level issues with web based AAA games, as I was alluding to before. Apple has a two-click payment system. If you failed a Candy Crush level and you needed to get up from the couch and get your credit card out of your wall

https://playcanv.as/p/MflWvdTW/ This isn't new at all, just one of the first things I found by googling "webgl demo." WebGPU of course goes even further. I think the real gap is just that people by-

You are trying to build an MMO and think story is irrelevant? My man! That's the core of the genre. You come for the story and stay for the rep grind.

Is it really massively multiplayer? There are 7 players online.

I'm the reverse. To me, no one cares if your code has "your voice." But your English writing should reflect your humanity.

How is this any different from television? Rich kids didn't get different cartoons growing up.

My old workplace did the opposite: we had All AI Fridays where you had carte blanche to build out AI tooling or just work on AI stuff as long as it's vaguely related to your job.

Thank you for the template! This worked! It turns out Claude seems to already understand quite a bit about decomps, and if you can find a game or two that already uses the toolchain that your target game uses, it can crib a lot of the basic

Yeah, that makes sense. Even taking AI out of the equation, that's how you know a decomp is actually right--it matches.

These sorts of toasts are already on the scummiest e-commerce sites and they're usually just fake. The average consumer can't tell if it's real anyway.

TBH I'm not even that interested in getting byte-for-byte reconstruction. I just want to bring an old game back from the dead.

You can write good functional code in many languages. (Even C++!)

How did you get started? I have a project in mind and would love to try, but getting a foothold on it feels really hard when you are starting with an ISO image and an empty folder.

In America, probably the KKK? They do in fact have a leader and a second in command (not that I know or care who).

Doesn't that scale up terribly? If everyone has 100 friends and is constantly pinging them every second, you're just flooding the internet with junk.

Frankly HTML itself might be a decent introduction. There's structure, but it's wildly forgiving, and "I made my own website" can be sufficiently motivating for some.

Apparently the unfiltered Claude voice for mathematics is pretty similar to programming.

As a parent who had a very similar experience growing up, I've tried putting BASIC in front of my young kids. It didn't work at all; the magic just isn't there anymore. If you've got an iPad, there's unfortunately

The goalposts have been at "performance-per-watt" for a very, very long time. That was why Apple pivoted from PowerPC to Intel, believe it or not. PowerPC laptops couldn't match the battery life of Intel, so Apple pivoted. Ho

Another one is "draw text, read back pixels" which is simultaneously a really effective fingerprint, and also cuts to the core of what we want a web browser to do. We can't refuse to draw text.

That's just a standard nanny filter. The filter realized it was in the process of saying "sexual assault" or the like, and just shut the conversation down.

You'd hire an auto designer to be a limo driver? I think it's just two different skill sets. The auto designer is clearly smart but a limo driver also needs to have customer service skills, etc.

That's not a backspace, that's just a nanny filter. I think all bigco LLMs have something similar. e.g. Claude obviously uses this to prevent Fable from doing security work.

The electricity cost is a rounding error compared to the cost of putting out a press release which makes them look incompetent.
