This comment and sibling comments read like bizarro world for me. I've never seen anything close to this level of attention to detail. I've had my packaged signed for by "mailbox". This is practically the default message

User facing tools have always been changing in Linux but that doesn't mean a regression in functionality, usually quite the opposite. ipchains became iptables which became netfilter. chroot and su evolved into namespaces and capabiliti

Well someone has to say it so I might as well: Is this going to be another Python 2 -> 3 cat herding exercise again? I suppose the need to run your app in "no-GIL" mode is less than needing to jump from 2.7 to 3.

The article is specifically talking about velomobiles: fully enclosed recumbent trikes. They're distinctly not better than a regular e-bike: * Where do you park this monstrosity? Are you really gonna hop the curb chain it a post? If yo

Certainly in the US these days, anything that isn't an SUV is unsafe (for the occupants) in traffic. It's a deadly arms race to get as big as you can. The little Fiat's don't even come up to the door handles on an F-150.

Do you understand the limits apple put on virtualization? Are you aware of how it's handled for cloud providers? I didn't say it was technically impossible. I said apple has a history of blocking it.

Even when the arch matched, macOS was a bad platform for running containers. I'm not even sure you can call them "edge cases" because it was basic things like volumes not working right. macOS is engineered for users and deskt

macOS manages _apps_ not _windows_. macOS (or iOS) is the last place to look for insights into window management because it's not even speaking the same language. GNOME made this mistake a long time ago, trying to cargo cult (orig. def

Without weighing in on the merits, I didn't even look for emulators in Steam for my Deck. I installed ("sideloaded", if you will) EmuDeck in Desktop mode and that was a much nicer experience. Deck-aware controls and unified h

For the neverending stream of talk about VR this, metaverse that, and WebGPU there, there should really be a KISS 3D format for the web so we can view things like this properly. Like Markdown simple. No shaders or animation or anything like

I had much more serious problems with a StarTech DP KVM and Macs. My Macbook would hang and crash-reboot. Both on the initial plug-in and on switching inputs. Everything else seemed to handle it fine with Linux being especially unphased, as

Ah yes. All those Jewish women who aren't allowed to wear the clothes they want, own property, or conduct business without a male present. It's not as straight forward as "ferengi" = "Jewish".

The criticism still holds (witness car tactile-vs-touch UX discussions) but a touch keyboard is not worse enough to outweigh the advantages of overall more screen space.

However if you wait for things to go wrong, determining what your code of conduct _should have been_ will be done in the heat of the moment, which is a far more dangerous place to be.
