Trump's and the Right's temper tantrum against social media platforms long predate Covid lockdowns. It started when conservative users went so far over the edge that no one could deny they were violating a site's TOS anymore

The reputation graph prevents Sybil attacks (mobs of sock puppets, etc). The crypto aspect can obscure a series of posts by the same author although I don't think it would protect you from the site owner themselves.

Sorry, I didn't mean to start a flame war. I find regexes, HOF, and especially asyncio/Promises much more palatable in JS, which are things I look forward to when moving out of shell scripting land.

At some point in my career, I picked up the notion that there an infinite number of local exploits laying around on your average Linux box. Any local user could find their way to root unless you took extra steps to lock things down. I'

I couldn't possibly use a shell that wasn't also a decent shell script. It seems my natural progression is always: 1. "Hand written" commands in shell 2. Shell script with copy-pasted commands from interactive session 2b

The Remote Development extensions being locked away is the kicker for me. Everything else I've been able to find on alternative "markets" (can we just call them repositories? we're all developers here...)

Some streets are genuinely unpleasant to walk along. I would want to see how certain areas or streets nudge path planning one way or another, as long term mildly repulsive or attractive forces. A street with wider sidewalks or quieter traff

Is it fair to say that the strongest CORS request allows the weakest? That is, if your server supports a preflighted, credentialed, cached CORS request with weird headers and methods, then it would support just about anything? Perhaps a det

I run into occasional HSTS issues on my home network sometimes because I've wildcarded HSTS and not everything internal has a cert. It's usually recently arrived IoT stuff that hasn't been cordoned off behind a stronger proxy

Are those spokes or springs? My mind had defaulted to "springs" given the zipzag shape and the typical function of a pneumatic tire. It didn't occur to me that they could function like spokes, where the vehicle hangs off the

There's still a major disconnect in this blog post. The problem statement was making all web-enabled devices performant with Canvas, not just desktops and mobiles running Chrome. If Off Screen Canvas is only available for a recent vers

Sheesh, you could have just said "gun control" for crap regulation ;). It's actually a very similar problem to FB, in American eyes. The majority wants regulation of some kind but few can agree on specifics. The only laws tha
