Agree. Fusion 4 with Windows 7 runs really well for me under Mountain Lion.

I use Outlook 2011 on my Mac for the company Exchange email, contacts + calendaring. It's not bad at all, and Spotlight searching is very fast.

BTW, who on earth still uses FTP? I use Transmit to FTP updated files to my web server. Then I send smoke signals to my colleagues to inform them of the changes, and document the updates on a papyrus using quill and ink. Should I be doing

What is it with the “war” on everything? How about you just make a great product that people want. Easier said than done, I know, but it’s not war.

I don’t even know what Yahoo does. I never use that site, except for a couple crappy-looking Yahoo groups sites.

I’m not a programmer but I loved this line from the post: But if you don’t mind too much feeling like a baby, and if you can create some space in your life where you aren’t forced to be an adult, then give the masters a try. I think this

My experience exactly. I started with Dropbox’s free 2 GB account for a short while, and once I saw the benefits of it I went with the 100 GB plan. I pay $20/month and now will get 200 GB for that. I also have two local clones of my MacBook

All other things being equal, I suppose more money is better than less. But ultimately, happiness is a decision we make every day—or not. For me, a mindfulness meditation practice has made this daily decision much easier. I need so little t

Microsoft’s strategy has, for a long time now, seemed to me to be one of pure reactivity. Look for what others are being successful with, then try to emulate it just well enough to turn a buck. A vision for the future? Someone else will tak

I don’t think I fully understand exactly what the FreedomBox does, but I hope it or something like it finds its way to market. Seems there would be an enormous demand for something that helps with online privacy if it is marketed well and i

There was nobody to leave her money to. 1. The beautiful moral of the story is a split-finger fastball that you never saw coming. 2. Maybe she had heirs who would receive her assets upon her passing.

That's exactly what occurred to me as I read the story. I graduated from college 20 years ago, and a few years back I drove through the old neighborhoods there and something just blasted me in the gut, or heart, or something. A flood of m

I'm guessing that some of the "new customers" that Groupon delivers are customers you don't want. I remember my girlfriend many years ago working in a restaurant that offered a ‘kids eat free’ deal one night a week. People would come in wit

A little premature to write an obituary of a company that finished 2011 with 1.6B in revenue. Revenue != profit. You could generate a trillion in revenue. What's left after the bills are paid is what counts.

I had so much fun playing PoP when I was in college! I lived in a student co-op at the University of Texas, late 80s, and we had a little ‘computer room’ (more like a closet) in the hallway with a Mac Plus (one 400k floppy drive, i think) a

I don’t think it’s naive. Many people are getting fed up with the substandard crap that mostly comes from the studios anymore and are demanding something better. Hollywood does not have a monopoly on talent. Spend a little time on Vimeo and

If I understand the Buddhist teachings correctly (and I may not) there is no ‘religion’ here in the sense of a theology, afterlife, deity, etc. I guess we can define religion in a number of ways but those characteristics seem to me to be es

I get that particles don’t know anything, that’s why I put it in quotes. But then again, how do we know they don’t know anything? Could elementary particles possess a form of consciousness?

This is what I was wondering about: how does a particle ‘know’ it is being observed? Something has to interact with it physically, and once affected its physical properties change. Is that right? I’m a total layman here but so fascinated wi
