Why are people so thrilled about a slower more error prone way to do what amazon provides already? Just make an ami for each kind of server you want. Now you skip the waiting part, and the "oops, my pile of messy ruby scripts fucked

It doesn't matter how silly you think it is. You don't create a system that reinforces bad behavior and then say "oh, but you should magically turn off your human nature and do the opposite of the what the system teaches you

Only 1 and 3 are relevant, and I don't believe either of them are true. The rest of those apply equally to all sorts of other skilled trades.

Trying to turn a language into a totally and completely different language is dumb. This is not complicated. Civil discourse also requires that you take the time to read and comprehend words before you reply to them with crap.

Context is cool. With context, you can participate in a conversation, rather than stating an obvious but non-sequitur fact. By definition, type checks are done at compile time. Haskell's defer-type-errors is precisely an example of

No, dumb ideas are dumb. It has nothing to do with java. Haskell is statically typed, and it is far more advanced than the languages you are thinking of when you think advanced.

No, it is a counter point. Demonstrating that all you can glean from someone's personal experience is their personal experience, not some universal truth about the languages.

There is no reason to believe that SRS will "cure" your depression. Suicide rates stay just as high post-op. Many people undergo the procedure only to find it did not help them at all.

Yeah, finding java programmers is super hard. Not like there's literally hundreds of times more of them than there are ruby programmers or anything. Facebooks is building HHVM because it is too late to do it right in the first place.
