> specific, widely accepted definitions Realistically, nobody outside of Hacker News commenters have ever cared about the OSD. It's just not how the term is used colloquially.

I'm surprised that a browser extension is able to change your saved preferences at all.

I'd image it's pretty typical analytics stuff. • Logging events for errors. • Seeing device statistics to know which browsers/devices to support/optimize for. • Reviewing page flows to understand how users navigate/

Seems a bit simpler than setting up a Server Container. Am I correct in understanding that this is meant to run on a CDN or load balancer? I'm curious what kind of effect is has on performance vs making direct requests to endpoints.

Lines of code are essentially doing the same thing as boxes and arrows. It's just a different representation of the same idea. You can see pretty direct translations in programming languages like Scratch, Unreal Blueprints, and Godot

So it's loading an instruct model for inference? That seems a fair bit less useful than a base model, at least for more advanced use cases. What about running LoRAs, adjusting temperature, configuring prompt templates, etc? It seems

If you put quotes around the string (the "exact match" operator), the only results are this very thread. So it seems to be working as intended. Basically, you did a fuzzy search and got a fuzzy result. Usually that's what p

Well, maybe. It's a factor that a twiddler can influence, but we don't know if that's done positively or negatively. It might also be more conditional, like for specific types of queries. For example, a small, personal blog

In many ways, on release is even worse for shaky hands. Imagine trying to use the vote icon next to this comment with your hand shaking. You need to both click and release without leaving the icon, which is extremely small. With on click,

Discord search is one of the worst I've ever used. They remap words like "localization" to "local", which makes it impossible to search for more specific terms.

Sorry, I'm not a WSJ subscriber. It wouldn't surprise me if Google are being squeezed between two organizations with different goals though. Ultimately the Privacy Sandbox has dozens of different proposals, and each is on a separ

>If they just wanted to drop 3p cookies without a replacement, they could. That's debatable, but I doubt that's the case. The CMA isn't a privacy organization; they deal with monopolies. They're intervening at the b

>Why don't they just unilaterally disable third-party cookies by default without providing any replacement? It's explained in the article, and below in this thread. They legally cannot due to intervention from the CMA.

That doesn't reflect the reality of the situation. Google has been trying to make this transition happen for years. The CMA is the one strong-arming them into maintaining the status quo. The article even mentions 39 new concerns rai

That's really not an example of appeal to authority. It's a simple statement of facts. This has passed reviews by Google, Facebook, Apple, Mozilla, and the W3C's security and privacy teams. Make of that what you will.

Have you seen this proposal yet? It allows domains to define their own dictionaries for future compressions, with delta updates for changes. Still seems a bit complicated to me, but could be meaningful for web apps that are required to be

How many FOSS projects are live streaming video games in the first place? I don't enjoy communities moving to Discord either, but this seems unlikely to affect any software group.

Inlining critical CSS seems to work best in SPA models that provide hydration, since they can choose to not request inline CSS on subsequent loads. But there can definitely be advantages to MPAs as well. Honestly I just find CSS a pain to

I linked the 3.1 page just because it had some graphics that showed the UI features in action. The 4.x pages lacked that. If you wanted to actually start learning these for development purposes though, then yes use the 4.x pages!

Godot has its own UI/layout system. They offer text labels, controls, anchor points, and other conventions for laying out UI. It's not simply coordinate-based like you might expect with a canvas. https://docs.godoteng
