I think that’s the wrong way to look at it. Tariffs could be an important tool as part of a strategy to kickstart US manufacturing. A big issue is education. In my region the state government is pushing hard to support semiconductor manuf

The Ford thing is bizarre. My brother has an F-150 Lightning. It’s an amazing vehicle that they just couldn’t market in this gonzo social landscape. He is literally the walking version of the stereotype of a rural cowboy type. He runs a sma

Uber charges more when you use gift cards. All of these companies are scum and need a heavy regulatory slap down.

It’s minor but can improve user experience if implemented well. I know several people who scoffed at the “need” for automation in car locking and unlocking. It just feels like the obvious way now. Another use case would be access control in

Where do you live? My son got his first library card at 5 and walked over there by himself when he was 6 or 7. Middle school is way too late to build good reading habits. What a shame.

I wish they had a way to transfer licenses. I have a huge steam library and my son is the biggest user. No big deal when he was 7 but now I just want to play my ancient games… and we kick each other out sometimes! And yeah.. it’s trivial to

The alert checking is a thing. But I’ve noticed with my 14 year old son and his friends that they are all about Snap and iMessage. Instagram and TikTok are their public fora.

That's a different situation / scenario and addressed a different problem. The government is the most efficient and effective at big capital spending and with what I would call static operations. Competitive private entities are t

The depth allows it to be drilled through bedrock, which avoids a bunch of complications on an already complicated project. This thing will probably be operating hundreds of years from now. What a project.

What an obnoxious piece. Sorry people’s deathbed regrets don’t entertain you, bro. Most of us live our lives under the illusion of being in control. As death approaches, many people realize they cannot control their fate and often observe o

If you’re a suburban kid, GenX or later you may have missed the peaks. In the 60s, it was more like 35-45% of kids. Things like rules for handwashing and standards for things like residential plumbing improved hygiene and reduced ringworms.

Yeah, Windows 10/11 really suck in terms of quality. New/old Outlook is like a house with random rooms added by people who don’t talk to each other.

That was due to a defective keyboard design that the company denied, failed to fix after several revisions, and was ultimately sued for. I was stuck with one of these at work. I’ve owned or had in my custody probably 30 laptops since 1995.
