I'll agree that the "follow-the-plot" infographics are too common (we don't need more than one), but the meta-issues are particularly interesting (and I think have all been discussed before). At first watch it's clear (apart from the ending

Maybe for you, but I prefer using my email address. It's certainly plausible that Google or FB login is a more pleasant experience for customers, just be aware that a non-zero number of people will bounce from your site if that's all you of

Anecdotal evidence, but over the last month I've seen Chrome not work on a few websites (broken js) and have seen the crashes due to flash a few times too. Recent changes have not been for the better. I've recently switched back to FF and

You know, you're probably right, I think I'm off about 2 years. Yeah, in my BBS days I remember downloading MOD files and demo videos. I still remember being blown away by Future Crew.

BBS's also functioned in a similar way before Usenet did. That said, Napster made it all really easy. They also came along when CD drives were finally commonplace, and Winamp had seeded the ground by having people build up a library of M

That's interesting. I guess Apple decided not to enable vsync? I don't recall seeing tearing playing games on my 4S though, can developers elect to turn it back on?

Borderlands did it pretty well. I wouldn't mind playing a fantasy-themed Borderlands.

That makes me curious - what is the maximum number of modifiers I can apply to one drink to arrive to a second drink on the same menu? Bonus points if it's cheaper.

I think it's a lesson about the end-game. What do your players do when they've finished your game, and are willing to play it from the start again? What can you offer them? If you could get your sims characters to craft items with a proba

MSFT does (IMO) rigorous usability testing, but I'm not so sure the organization is agile enough to take that feedback into account.

This is what we do for our son. From what I can remember it isn't obvious that you can set up an iTunes account without a credit card - we had to go into iTunes (on a PC) after-the-fact to remove the CC info.

I've seen child-oriented cases that have a hard cover over the home button. This was for an iPhone/iPod, but they probably exist for the iPad as well.

Indeed. The music was done well too, IMO. If you had the same crew apply their technology to the "Hotel Hospital" video[1], it'd be pretty uninteresting. I'd be willing to watch more of this story even if were animated like Reboot[2]. [1

I remember a story where some guy/clan had a bunch of PLEX in a freighter, and they lost the whole lot when it was blown up. The real value of that PLEX was not insignificant.

I would much much much rather have a way to get my Xbox controller to talk to my iPhone. Many games are designed well to take into account the touchscreen, but games that present virtual thumbsticks are usually problematic.

I'd be very interested to know if it's even possible to create a game where you genuinly feel remorse for killing an innocent person while chasing "the bad guy". Many games have innocent bystanders, and there is a spectrum of consequence, f

There's a legitimate use-case for people who don't or can't use a credit card. We sometimes give iTunes credit to our son as a gift. He can buy whatever he wants, but his iPhone is not connected to our credit card so he has to limit his sp

I've heard that the original set of MSFT buildings in Redmond (were they there in 1984? I don't know) were designed with maximizing the number of window offices in mind. They are shaped like an "X".

It depends on what team you're on. Most (all?) of the older buildings in Redmond are private offices (and sometimes people are doubled up depending on space). I've seen cubicles in some of the newer buildings where Xbox/Zune people work.
