I wonder if there is a market for android-ready shells. Screen, webcam, keyboard, touchpad, battery, storage, and a slot for any android-on-a-stick PC. I'd buy that, knowing that I could "upgrade" the stick when I needed to.

Ubisoft last weekend offered some of their games for $1. I'd bet those games sold like hot-cakes. They also sold most of their catalog for $1 a few years ago (for about a day completely by accident), I wonder what their sales numbers were

It would also help if Ubisoft ended their relationship with Digital River. Digital River for some inexplicable reason enforces a limit on the number of times you can download a title. For a digital download service I have a hard time unde

If you run an openwrt/dd-wrt firmware on your home router you can bounce of it too. Just configure ssh access on it and you have pretty much the same thing.

Part of the problem with HN (and reddit) is that the format is still linear. A comment system results in multi-dimensional conversations both in subject and in tone. Some comments are on-topic and are helpful, some are on-topic and humorou

If you're running under Hyper-V, Alt+Home is the same thing as pressing the start button. Otherwise it's highly impractical trying to hit the bottom left corner in a floating window. You can also turn off all animations in Windows, which m

I'm glad it's so easy today. "Back in the day" you had to rely on all sorts of oddball codecs to get something to play. It's the reason why VLC was (and still is) so loved - it could play anything. Using a standard means that I can take a

I doubt all the OEMs would leave. Surface may be great, but there's still room at the high-end for powerful desktop-replacement laptops.

Logitech does really well too (so maybe there is still room for OEMs?). I work at MS but I use a Logitech as my daily-driver mouse (it's hard to find a MS mouse that has a wheel with detents, is wireless, and has back/forward buttons).
