From what I've read online, it should be possible to estimate the uptime of your machine with TCP timestamps. I'm not sure why this would be a problem, maybe an attacker can see that you haven't rebooted to install a kernel u

Thanks for the quick reply, I tried again and the code is not working. I'll later send a mail to support, as now it's quite late for me.

I was interested by the title. So I followed the link, but no screenshot/no presentation/anything (I see you're working on it, but wanted to point it out). So, since this is HN and usually good stuff get posted here, I decide

That's one of the best, and yet one of the worst feature of DuckDuckGo. When I tried using it a while ago, I ended up always searching for "!g <query>", since I knew I would always get equal or better results. I'm

I'm glad to see more and more people switching (back) to Firefox, as I admit I'm quite a Firefox fanboy. I've never made the full switch to Chrome. First, as a long time linux user, Firefox was never so bad on it (startup tim

You can install Unity on Arch[1], but you also need to install several libraries with many Ubuntu-specific patch[2], since Ubuntu loves to patch stuff downstream. I'm also not sure if it will work flawlessly, as I haven't tested i

As this blog post says, ECDHE got implemented only "in the past couple of weeks", which mean that there are still about six months of conversations that didn't use ECDHE and can be easily cracked in case someone leaks their S

Just because you're able to see the source, it doesn't mean that it is open source. An example is the recent release of the Adobe Photoshop 1 source code. You can see it, but it's not released under an OSS license. To be co

Isn't the password length check done locally on the machine (with javascript or similar)? If so, an attacker could easily ignore that check and send as much data as he want. The check on that should (and, AFAIK, is) done server-side, w

This is great, but every developer has to include your API to get it's app working with your service. And he has to do it for every service that he want to support (Feedly, FeedBin, Feever, NewsBlur...). My rant was not about Sismics n
