First of all, since you're already using the free version, there's no need to switch (at least, soon), since Google isn't retiring that. Microsoft allow you to get Outlook.com mail with your custom domain [1], and the free version includes

Just in case anyone is interested: I haven't tried it, since I don't own a Chromebook, but Crouton ( https://github.com/dnschneid/crouton ) seems to do exactly what he's doing in the article, only automated.

The FSF obviously suggest to use Replicant ( http://replicant.us/ ). Otherwise, Cyanogenmod without the proprietary Google Apps is a less bad alternative ( http://fsfe.org/campaigns/android/liberate.en.html )

As a KDE user, I'm constantly impressed by the amount of polish the Gnome team put into Gnome Shell. While I don't like some of their design choice, They are coherent and try to focus on their ideals. 3.8 looks like a nice release, I might

I partially agree - I do use RSS to check for sites that publish daily updates (yes, even Hacker News). But even with those, you don't need to overload yourself. Right now I get about ~100 news every day, which is perfectly fine with me. I

This isn't exactly the same as blocking third-party cookies, and Firefox was capable of that since forever. Firefox is going to accept third-party cookies only from sites that you already browsed before, kinda like Safari does it now.

I just wrote something similar on an another site: "For now, Google Reader was the standard. Now that it isn't it anymore, I hope that it will get developed a nice API to sync feeds between decides, and that the major reader will implement

I voted for Tiny Tiny RSS, since I've just installed it and I'm liking it. After a bit of customizations it's quite close to Google Reader. But I would have voted for Google Reader if it were an options in the poll.

Thanks, I looked into it some times ago. Liked it, but didn't bother to switch since Google Reader was working so nicely for me. I know it has a mobile app for android, but it always seemed sub-par to gReader or Press for me.

This is a sad news, one of my favourite RSS reader is closing. Google Reader is likely the site I browse the most, and I always have one tab open on it. Also, my phone sync with RSS with it. I guess it's time to start searching for a new RS

See http://www.fortressofdoors.com/2013/02/steam-linux-sale-resu... They may just got lucky, but ~7% of their total sales comes from users running Linux. While it's not an huge number, it's still significant, and it's likely to grow in th

This is probably the opposite of my experience. I don't own any machine running OSX, so I can't comment on this, even if almost every experience I had with it has been quite bad. I never saw any of those problems running Linux (KDE on Chakr

This isn't the first time Apple do it. They've already removed Chan Elite [1] and every other 4chan's browser based on the same concern (and those were tagged as 17+ applications). I wonder how Apple chose which apps are out, and which apps
