Ah, I missed that, thanks. That said, I think there's still a big difference between "only omits a finite number of hypergraphs" and "only omits a finite number of hypergraphs of bounded size ". I'd regard t

This article seems to leave out a key caveat: They only proved this conjecture for sufficiently large n, not for all n. [Edit: Oops, apparently I was wrong, it does list that caveat -- but doesn't go into the further detail I discuss

A note, the pictures seem to have vanished in the Tor version of the article. It would probably be better to link to the original version on Ex Urbe: https://www.exurbe.com/the-borgias-vs-borgia-faith-and-fear/

> “I don’t know” and “I don’t care” would be honest answers. The former is not a valid justification for closing the issue. The latter would backfire. Nah, you can totally say that you don't care, you just gotta phrase it right. &q

You're thinking of Agloe, New York: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agloe,_New_York However, it never really became a real town or anything. There was an Agloe General Store there, but that seems to have been it.

Yes, exactly, that's what I meant. The problem in general is as you say, but I was talking about MOND-based theories, as that was the context.

I think you're just mistaken as to how complete of a theory MOND proper has ever been. See e.g.: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modified_Newtonian_dynamics#Ov... Like, if you pick a specific interpolation function

Sure, original MOND no, but original MOND is not an actual theory of gravity. People try to make actual theories of modified gravity that replicate MOND's predictions, but you can't actually just use MOND as a theory of gravity.

My understanding is that, though commonly repeated, this is not actually true. The thing is that modified gravity (MOND) theories modify gravity by introducing a new field(s); this means that, as with dark matter, it is possible for this n

What's wrong with ellipsis as syntax? Plenty of languages have some sort of ellipsis (either 3 dots or 2) as syntax. See for instance https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellipsis#Programming_languages and https:/

I don't think this is a sufficient explanation; there were a number of scientific voyages of explanation. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_and_American_voyages_... , although most of those postdate 1822.

It's very surprising to me that as late as 1822 Europeans had no idea where migratory birds went. I would have expected that this would have been determined back during the age of exploration, once they gained access to these places.
