I think it’s a reference to the story about a barkeep kicking out a nazi from his bar even though the nazi wasn’t doing anything wrong because he believed that as soon as you tolerate one, you are a nazi bar.

I used to have a Soniq brand TV. To emphasise the stupidity of the name I insisted on pronouncing it not as "sonic" but with the final q as the weird sound which begins "quack".

You could use one of those small usb voltage meter devices to check the port before plugging in your phone. Depending upon the model it may also nullify the data pins.

I have similar anecdata. My iPhone X still has 88% battery capacity. It still easily lasts a full day of light/intermittent use and gets charged each night on a wireless charger. The battery life is now noticeably shorter in cold weath

Yes, that was very much a factor for me. DVD players were still very expensive. A PS2 gave you games and DVDs for around the same price or less.

It is easier to understand if you imagine that the observer is at the south pole looking up, instead of thinking of them on the equator going around. In reality, they are somewhere between the two extremes.
