I think this is finally the right direction for AI to move in. For a while it has seemed like AI researchers were too enamored with the idea that humans were inborn with certain ideas like language and motor capability, and that they should

Maybe not the way you read it, but this is the paragraph I read. "The animation in games that use Euphoria bears little resemblance to the slick, organic movement in their tech demo video. For example, here is a video of how fighting looks

Just thought I should point this out: that Euphoria video is totally fake (that is, prerendered and not actually generated in real time like they want you to think--it's less impressive than a second year animation student's demo reel). See

Color me unimpressed, but this is just another surface level analysis of very rudimentary ideas. I think it was in preschool where I learned ideas like "green is the color of leafs and grass", and "yellow is the color of the sun". To say th

That kind of thinking is a great way to bring up children who remain irresponsible for their own behavior. Growing up I was responsible for everything I did, and now I'm quite tired of college classmates who still haven't learned to take ac

Repost of http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1025950 . Not only is this article ridiculous, it's not relevant, factual, or new.

Any chance you could list a price on the page somewhere? I looked and looked, but couldn't find price range estimates anywhere. Pretty hard to evaluate a laptop if you don't know how much it costs, in my opinion.

I think one of the main advantages of building a start up that solves a problem you already have is that the empathy is automatic and built-in. There's no reason to emulate.

I tried it when it was first announced, so the experience has probably been smoothed over a lot since then. It has the steepest learning curve of any nosql database I've tried so far, but perhaps for people with more Map/Reduce familiarity

I'll give this a shot. I'm expecting you don't want to spend tons of time on graphics and the likes, but you don't need to in order to drastically improve your sites as they are now. Your typography definitely needs to be improved. A lot of

As much as it sucks when Github goes down, there's a sense in which I look forward to it happening. It's yet another chance for me to get a peek at their architecture. As a high school student it's pretty disappointing to me how hard it is

Working on this. The way the Ruby starter pack is written makes it mostly useless, so I ended up rewriting all the map class. I suppose that's what happens when they translate Java to Ruby.

Yeah, that sounds quite similar. A side effect of typing this way is that changing keyboard layouts didn't change my typing speed at all after I had learned the keys. Which annoyed me initially, because I was hoping for an easy way to incre
