Also confusing "then" and "than". Not to mention the general abuse of commas.

Actually, there is an option on each of your posts to make them public. They are just private by default. But really, you wouldn't want to publish this anyway. The same way nobody publishes NaNoWriMo novels either. The point is to get the w

For those of us on Linux, PyRoom is a nice clone, which has the additional benefit of being easily hackable via Python.

I really liked this. I've written a shell script that does something similar, but there isn't any chart generation or word tagging, for example. This is nice and polished. I'm always overjoyed when someone works on something I want. :)

I'm certainly not saying people don't have options beyond cousins, but would you agree that it's far more difficult to meet people beyond cousins?

I'm aware of this effect, and the reason I think it doesn't apply is this: the children play with each other, but they are raised in separate households. (Sloppy writing on my part, I wrote "children of the family are young they play and do

This article doesn't mention the cause of such high rates of inbreeding, so I'll provide that information (kindly supplied by a Muslim friend). Basically, when all the children of the family are young they play and do everything together.

Perhaps my line of reasoning was too sideways to be seen clearly as a response to this post. And you also may have misinterpreted my citation of Steam. In my view DRM exists because a dying industry is trying to hang on. Refer to the last p

Certainly in terms of the DRM and licensing issues the Kindle is a step backwards, but it is an attempt to make purchasing books more convenient. As a lifelong bibliophile, I'm still waiting for something better to come along.

The publishing industry needs to change, and it should take Steam as its example. The way I see it, the economics of publishing are entirely backwards right now. A creative producer, who wishes to distribute their goods to the masses, shoul

The words won't flow no matter how concentrated you are on your writing, not if you aren't invested in the writing, and aren't writing out of passion. A fake and hollow story can be spotted around a corner from a mile away. As a reader I wa

I've noticed a trend in people calling themselves minimalists. Well, there's nothing in the minimalist movement that dictates making block quotes obnoxious to read.

Outside of Adsense, the great majority of ads I see are ugly Flash banners advertising weight-loss treatments with dubiously verified effectiveness. I don't think it is an assumption, I think it is an observation. As to the data they collec

Pretty standard gvim setup. For writing Rails applications a lot more plugins come into play, but for writing plain C the simplicity is nice. http://mkbunday.googlepages.com/2009-12-07-113456_1024x600_s...

Yup, this is a great point. Writing is an act that requires a lot of feedback. Unfortunately a lot of (poor) writers can't tell the difference between well meaning criticism and soul crushing negativity. I hate phrases like, "If you can't f
