I develop using 3 different computers every day. My work laptop, my personal desktop at home and my personal laptop. This is the setup that I find myself using most often - even with my laptop: 1. Eclipse (with Aptana plugin, remote system

I don't see how to select a finer grain of control over what Crowdwoo needs, via Twitter's site, though. I've selected Read & Write access, because I need to be able to follow the winners. If there is a way to de-select the ability to p

No, it will not post tweets on your behalf. It will automatically follow the three winners of the lottery, though. That is all.

I guess the cool thing is that those are all basically HN readers. Would be a pretty solid HN user following.

My most common scenario for kick-starting my creative coding is to bust open the REPL and brain dump the more difficult concepts just to see if they're feasible. I use the REPL so I can quickly debug code and see immediate results. There's

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that kind of backup Amazon's claims of the term "app" being generic - whether you think those old apps were worthy of the current term or not? I've used the term app for as long as I can remember. Apple

I have been working on something else in the Twitter-space and then saw a blog post about a concept like this. I decided to take a quick break from my actual project and code up Crowdwoo. It's a simple lottery-esque site except it costs not

You know, that's strange, because I first heard about this site nearly a year ago through somebody on IRC. When I first heard of it, I thought the same thing - this is going to go nowhere. Then a few months later I recall seeing them make a

One thing I learned from these startup weekends, too, is that it's just one weekend. You weren't necessarily forced or desperate to find a team or co-founder there, especially with it being your first startup weekend-style event. It's just

I agree. Although, I'm not a huge fan of the common phrasing such as "impossibly simple", or "stupidly simple". Something about having the word impossible or stupid in big bold letters on my landing page just makes me feel like I could choo

It just depends. When I see that it's a real-time chat room built on top of node.js, it doesn't really interest me. A chat room is basically the Hello World of node.js/socket.io, and I think I built my first one in a matter of hours. But, o

Correlation is also why we started this. A little story: we were using Cacti on a cluster of ours. I was showing a friend of mine the graphs, only because I was explaining our infrastructure setup. I noticed one had unusually high CPU load.

Alerts, in various forms, are definitely one of our top priorities. That was the spark that ignited our project. So, we're focused on making those as intuitive as possible. As for auto discovery, we have a rudimentary form of this in place.

Thanks for the response. We really started custom building our own tool, in house, to do exactly what we wanted. We manage about 150 physical servers, so we can't benefit from the underlying hypervisor info that some VM platforms provide. W

I hadn't seen Scout, yet. That's good to see a similar service. Having not seen them until now, I can say that we had planned to provide slightly more for less than they do, in terms of data logging and analytics. It's neat to see them, bec
