How long ago was this? I was there in 2008 and 2010 and both years were packed to the rafters all week long.

I got an email at 11:34am eastern time from Apple about WWDC. Plenty of time.

Your second point might be technically accurate, but there's a very large contingent of indie developers, like myself, with 1-5 employees that shoulder all the cost ourselves.

The developer preview of Lion makes it pretty clear which way things are heading. I wouldn't expect much deviation from that on the Mac side. I'll be interested to see what they're planning for iOS 5 though.

This is an interesting idea that I haven't seen before. Why shouldn't Twitter target trends at me? They know my tweets, and tweets of the people I follow. They could target trends, and ads for that matter, that I'd actually like to see.

I keep imagining it like the writer prints out the article and then holds it up right in Steve Jobs' face, and then taunts him like he just won the Super Bowl. "YEAH STEVE! HOW DO YOU LIKE THAT? 1.1 SECONDS FASTER BITCH! UNH!" Complete with

I don't know about NO gain in security, but certainly less gain in security than other measures that cost less, don't cause health concerns and don't violate the Constitution.

Apple has a standard 14 day return policy on all products that they continue to honor when new devices come out.

Who said anything was a replacement for anything? I'm giving examples of content creation on the iPad to someone who said it couldn't do content creation "at all". It doesn't mean everybody should switch to it completely for everything, tha

I think you're wrong about that, but we'll have to wait to find out. So how about Brushes, which was used to make two New Yorker covers?

iPads absolutely can produce content. The new GarageBand and iMovie apps are perfect examples of just how much potential the iPad has for creation.

Why should Apple make it easy to jailbreak? That's spending development resources directly against their own interest. That said, you have complete access to your own device, but you don't own the OS running on it. If you want to figure out

You're welcome to jailbreak your iPhone and install whatever you want on it. It's perfectly legal, but Apple is not under an obligation to support it, or keep the security holes that allow it in place, or even make it easy for you.

I'm not a "founder" in the startup sense, but I did start my own indie development and consulting shop, and I think the startup founders can relate to my experience. For example, 16, 18, even 20 hour days are common. Keeping the business go

Nice and all, but the scroll bars don't work on the iPad, nor is there a way to scroll the tag list on the left. A step in the right direction though.

Was he standing in the aisle? In his seat? Neither may justify being roughed up like that, but this appears to be a statement from his lawyers, and a video that only shows him being removed. Can we even be confident this is the whole truth?

All I want is for any TV or movie on iTunes that is purchasable to also be rentable. I don't have any desire to buy, say, The Social Network for $20, but I'll rent it for $5. This goes double for TV shows. I love Fringe, but if I miss an ep

What Apple does is curate the store to their standards, which makes them the decision makers on what is and is not acceptable. Copyright is a large and nuanced legal issue in which they can't be the final arbiter, so why would they want to

Agreed. What bugs me about Rosen's statement is that he seems to expect Apple to police this for him, and that's not something they can or should do. He's within his rights to send Apple a DMCA takedown and they'll respond to it, as they ha

I used to have a home office, but we moved into an (allegedly) temporary place and my desk is just in a corner of the living room now. It's not anything approaching ideal and we're hoping to buy a house soon so I can have my office back.

If you're an iOS developer, you NEED TestFlight. It makes the process of sending betas, client demos, really anything you'd use an adhoc build for, so much easier. I use it almost every day, and I can't count how many frustrating hours it h

Apple isn't putting iOS on the desktop. It wouldn't look right, feel right or work right. They will however be incorporating some iOS ideas into OS X. I really do believe that they'll do it with a careful and steady hand.
