Reading this I was reminded of this story: "At the Abyss: An Insider's History of the Cold War" recounted that the United States added a Trojan horse to gas pipeline control software that the Soviet Union obtained from a comp

Occupational licensure has, overtime, slowly choked off both competition and access to information. IMHO much of it is little more than protectionism.

If we focus on the questionable activities segment, it will likely shift. Criminals will always find a way.

Good point, that was also struck by the comment that it's infected "tens of thousands" phones. That's a minuscule rounding error.

I can see that sort of, a coworker of mine routinely scrapes HN and feeds it into an LLM. I don't know why, I don't know if he uses it to respond, or he's looking for something, but he copies and paste and runs it. So I think

This article makes no sense. ChatGPT is a search engine and knowledge base with an anthropomorphic front end. It's Google with human characteristics. I think, IMHO, people take AI way too seriously and see in it a boogeyman to conquer.

One would hope, but I think history has taught us that there's always someone reading and watching. There's always someone with access abusing it.

I think every retail corporation needs a consigliere to the CEO, someone who can take the CEO aside and say look, boss, that's gonna really make the employees mad and resentful. You shouldn't do it.

I'm more interested of what employees can read of chat logs. Is everything that's put into OpenAI access accessible by the employees? These kind of stories imo may dissuade people from LLMs unless there is greater privacy control.

These are such a good points. With each new creation of technology, I don't think our comprehension gets better, our ability to collect data gets better. You can now grab so much of it, and analyze it so much, but if you don't kno

If you haven't bought a 3D printer yet then I think it's a good time to invest in one. This is going to be one of those technologies that slowly the government will erode our access to, so getting on board now is the best course o

I think this is all a bit extreme, but I also think interrupting a church service, any religion, any church service, is absolutely abhorrent. So while arresting him is obnoxious, I don't have much sympathy for him.
