My son, alone? Nope. But I'm still getting royalty checks, so someone other than 8-12 year olds are playing. The world is a big place, and not everyone has an iPhone. Are fewer people playing than back in 2008? Yes. Is it enough to be

I mean, yes? That's the point I was making? I see a lot of other people piling on to also rebut this bit, which is what I was specifically targeting: > These days, every one of Kongregate's users has a smartphone with free game

You could just pull number of google results as a proxy. You have the link to the google search now, being able to sort or filter by that would weed out a lot of junk. Would also be nice to sort/filter by Wayback hits.

Does brand advertising even work on FB? All these big brands pulling out seems like PR more than anything that is really going to hurt FB long term. Seems like the big money is in D2C and retargeting, which (AFAIK) is not cost effective for

My dream has always been for one of the consoles to buy the scraps of Flash from Adobe, add good controller/save support, and then open it up to developers to make 2D games. Having shipped games in Java, Flash/AS3, haxe, objective

This is basically how I use notion now -- mostly "code blocks" full of Markdown. The split panes look really impressive. This is definitely worth keeping an eye on if I ever decide to bail on Notion (which just went free).

My mom is a retired teacher, and she's been doing remote preK for my 5yo and my niece for a couple of hours a day so the grownups can get work done. Evaluating whiteboards for a 60-year-old and two 5-year-olds to use together with vide

I built a digital whiteboard that was a little better suited for 5-year-olds than the current crop for my mom to use with my youngest and my niece. Figured out how to properly use the bread machine (making approx 1 loaf a day, currently hav

This seems massively less "dumb" and "debuggable" than say, templated HTML that's rendered on the server (erb, blade, whatever). I get that it's trying to be "dumb components" but maybe that's an

My current job is a 4-day workweek (not the whole company, just me), but it's also not the most interesting job. I've seen other jobs posted that look more interesting in the last year or two (and would likely be for higher pay),

If you’re working on small sites which are worth ~30x monthly net, a $250/month recurring cost will remove $7,500 from the value of your business... or a month of engineering at $90k/year. If you’re technical yourself, build it fo

I used cygwin to do web development circa 2007/2008. It was a huge pain in the ass and one of the main reasons I switched to Macs. I've been back on Windows for a couple of years now using WSL and it's been pretty great. I&#x

I did. We were out-of-towners at the time, so I would use that to build a strike list of 10-20 properties. We would fly in and do as many visits as we could schedule in a weekend. Currently at 8 doors (that SFH, a tri, a quad), but now that

Why did you decide on this business model (essentially downside insurance paid for by equity if I'm understanding it right) over something simpler like, say, subscription access to a newsletter? What's to stop someone from signing

This is a bad take. Save your snark for somewhere else. I didn’t say it was the wrong choice or even a bad choice, just that I was surprised. Ruby and jquery are certainly modern technologies. My surprise was more a factor that maybe I had

I still use it for most websites I build. Ruby + jquery are still great! I’ve inherited a ton of backbone, angular, react projects and it’s always a pain sourcing devs for whatever random thing a project was written in 1-8 years ago. Jquery

This is mostly a problem for devs who do bundles. A users pays $20 for 10 games but only wants 3 of them, so they sell the other 7 keys. G2A has done some shady things (including trying to buy favorable press coverage), but I do think it&#x

Reminds me a lot of the Indie Fund in the game space, but slightly more profit-centered (which is not a bad thing). How did you settle on a 3-5x return cap? Are you planning to tune that over time? Did you consider a graded return schedule?
