As far as I know, youtube has always been pretty close to the top for free video streaming quality. Sites like facebook and such compress the video far more than youtube ever has. So yeah they were not the best video possible to create but

What makes you think they are not trying? Google is constantly working on their moderation AIs. Cracking down harder on spam unfortunately means a lot of legitimate content gets hurt in the process.

We may as well think of the spammers as their own ML whos aim and weighting is to fool the spam prevention. So as good as you make the spam AI, the spammer AI evolves to be better than it since they keep iterating until they find whatever f

Which isn't too expensive if you have paying customers. Doesn't make people angry when they are on data cap or trying to do something else on their network. Also doesn't have to deal with endless NAT and middlebox issues. But

I was using some unofficial packages since installing java on my system is difficult so I used the first flatpak and the first docker image I found on google and neither of them shipped an included browser and it seemed like the way was to

Most video calling platforms only expose you to the actual people you are calling which is generally a non issue. Torrents have a public list of all content and all hosts with what content they hold. This is required for peer discovery and

It's always been like that for me. Even the lowest quality videos struggle to play.

These days most video content would be consumed on mobile devices which are particularly bad for p2p tech.

Not that it seems to do much. Every time I have used it I have only been connected to the server peer. I doubt there are many people with an active tab open for a particular video.

In the video streaming world, yeah that is true. These platforms are not just hosts, they are discovery platforms and if there isn't any content to discover, it isn't a good platform.

The thing is that dns and static web servers are serving an absolutely minuscule amount of data while a single video on youtube is several GB in the higher qualities. No one can compete on video hosting because it is constantly at the upper

Everyone used to but almost no company does anymore. It's easier and more effective to just let each ISP cache the content of highly downloaded files.

Can't just pin the blame on this on the public. These tools have a horrible UX problem. I tried to connect to freenet last year and I literally couldn't work it out. The GUI didn't make much sense, I couldn't work out wh

I used to have a weird .red domain and I always found it awkward to tell people. So I ended up going with firstname@lastname.me and literally no one has got it wrong or looked at me funny.

They spam from these weird TLDs because they often have really cheap deals like $1/year for the first registration so you can buy a load of them.

It's kind of a pain to use .com.au because you have to register an ABN and have a company / yourself be directly related to that name. So I can't just come up with any cool domain name I want and create a .com.au for myself w

I think the problem is that xyz was and maybe still is the cheapest TLD so it naturally attracts all the spammers.

The latest spam method right now is to get malware on to android phones and have the actual phones do the spamming. So if there is a cost, it gets applied to random people and not the spammers. Also if there was a cost per SMS on phones the

I think this mostly applies to TLDs with more than 3 letters. I have email on a .me and a .red and I have never had anything reject me.

Apple does battery replacements on them for a reasonable price. Might not be worth it for a phone that old. But it is nice that Apple keeps updating devices until virtually no one is using them anymore.
