Agreed. It's not black and white and the realistic answer is something in between. It's entirely possible to work hard and still play hard, especially in your 20s/30s/40s when your body is still in its prime.

Same here besides some travel ball that screwed up a couple summers for me when I was a pre-teen. I ended up getting burnt out with baseball and quit. Besdies that, from my earliest memories to about 20 I screwed off basically 95% of the

I've screamed at my kids when not looking both ways crossing the street. If not, there is a decent chance they could get run over by an Amazon truck. I don't sugar coat it for them - they know they could die if it happens. Afte

This was extremely well written and full of information I've always wondered about. Thanks a lot for sharing.

No idea whether it's conservative or liberal as I'm not real enthusiastic with the red/blue team stuff. Emotional is probably the best way I can describe it.

Why not try to work for the company you are consulting with, but negotiate a raise in your hourly rate? You've basically already served a probationary period, and if you've shown how good you are it should be a no brainer for the

I'm lucky enough to have a 9 to 4, but I do freelancing on the side as well. I've gotten lowball offers after sending contracts over, one in the past week that was 35% below my rate, which I already thought was low to begin with.

I think the person you are responding to may have forgotten they are no longer posting in the Reddit tab. I've been on this site for a long time - unfortunately these vitriolic types have been bleeding over into this forum more than e

This was very well said and I don't know if you could have said it any better. FWIW, I'm a person with multiple degrees in CS, but the best programmers I've worked with and who get stuff done have zero degrees. I have eight

I think your point is valid and worth looking into - there are also many non profit hospitals in the same situation. That being said, I'm sure it's part of the equation, but I'm not 100% convinced everything can be blamed on

I've been algo trading as a side project for a few years now, but all through TD Ameritrade. I get all my quotes and whatnot with them, and it's free with my accounts. I also get other data elsewhere, which is free as well. I wa

Good point here. IRC was also nothing like Twitter or current day social media in general. We also didn't have the massive amount of statistical evidence in mental health that came to light just recently about teenage social media use

Totally in agreement. The Thin Red Line is possibly my favorite film of all time, while I hated The Tree of Life; except for that awesome creation segment. And I also loved A Hidden Life.
