It's a shame, really. I used to play Granblue Fantasy with their Chrome app. It was very convenient and accessible.

Stumbled upon this gem while browsing his blog https://boekwetenschap.org/ There's all kinds of art in it, from initials, technical drawings to art from a torture manual.

I'm in an European Union country. Personally, I've given up on even trying to invest when I saw all the strings attached. The bank I use has a service allowing you to put money in their investment funds, configured for different r

The read up is very interesting but I don't understand the Sonic Wall VPN exploit and how they planted the keylogger in the first place. Was it an inside job?

I don't think I'm nostalgic for these at all. Near my office, kids gather all the time and play music really loudly on small Bluetooth speakers. I don't even dare to imagine the experience if they had one of these bad boys.

Isn't this just addressing the symptoms, but not the problem itself? The camp seems to be showing kids that they can do other things than play with their phones, but I don't think outside the premises of the camp they can find peo

I think it's far more agnostic than that. As long as an entity has enough money and a wish, there will be someone willing to grant it.

Forgive my ignorance on the subject of matter, but aren't these credits so expensive precisely because they're handed to unreliable debtors? There is obviously a need for such a product since it's so popular, but it can'

I'm not a specialist, I just read up about it some time ago so take what I say with a grain of salt. Basically there's two issues affecting electronic chipsets at high altitude : air density and cosmic rays. The reduction of the a

I worked for about 3/4th of a year for a dating website. The market is ...unique, to put it nicely. Employees are constantly poached. When my boss told me this I couldn't believe it but it actually happened. During lunchtime, it b

In my experience of working for corporations, all of them tend to be cult-like. Office politics: bringing down others to cut ahead, cutting deals, favoritism, etc. are the norm and your work and quality of it matters very little in the long

I happen to own Lego sets of pirates, which also happen to be my favorites. They have cutlass, pistols, muskets, barrels of rum, jugs of moonshine and other piratey/armada things.

There are companies that act as data brokers for other parties and there's also companies like Nielsen which buys media consumption data in bulk. It's not just about the ads. It's also about the way in which to split the pie.

Sorry to disappoint you my friend, but the ads and paid subscriptions are just a small fraction of their income. The real money maker is in tracking user behavior and selling that aggregated data. If worst comes to worse, they can just trac

User tracking seems to be far more valuable than ads. I'm currently subcontracting for a specific large media trust. Ad contracts are in total about 6 figure numbers. User tracking, sponsored content and skins (custom stylesheets with

I fully agree with you. I'd also like to add something that I consider the elephant in the room. Haven't tech companies already proven themselves that they're willing to bend to governments' will in order to do business?

Not yet, I'm afraid. Passwords are the best of the bad solutions people came up with. For public key cryptography, the problem remains, as always, key exchange. How can one be sure you are who you say you are?

What's the incentive for a business going cashless? I can see some upsides to it like eliminating the risk of employee theft but the intermediaries take a cut.
