Not the parent, but the JS regex engine is less powerful than what Sublime uses (PCRE?), lacking among other things atomic groups, possessive quantifiers and lookbehind.

Oh please. Energy from food gets stored in fat molecules, that's true, but it's not like physics decrees exact equality in people's outcomes. Someone who digests less efficiently will receive less nutrition from the food they

I'm confused, I don't know what type of errors a promise eats. If you're chaining together promises returned by other routines, especially with async/await, then error propagation and handling is very natural. If you

TFA seems to come close to arguing that certain businesses should plan to provide value, then fold within a few years. The idea had never occurred to me. It seems to have some difficult implications. If you're the founder of a business

I prefer that model for floor numbering, personally. It means if you're on floor N that you're N stories above the ground.

The page makes use of numeric expressions like 9x2^27. What's with the choice of exponent? Why not e.g. 1.125x2^30?

The parent isn't saying the author is cranky, like ornery, he's saying he's a crank. The link being referred to [0] seems to be a classic piece of crankery meandering from the solution to global warming to perceived slights a

Police serve the community, not the other way around. No one would ever say "if you want your street sweepers to stop running people over then you need to make sure you respect their pride," because street sweepers, unlike cops, a

There are certainly legitimate complaints to be made about how Reddit empowers the volunteer work of moderators, but that is the least of the complaints that are clogging the site right now. There are three major objections being raised lou

I don't work in 3D graphics but it seems challenging to me because of the fluid dynamics. Fire is very low density gas rushing upward into the moderate density air - and even if you can do all the fluid dynamic calculations to render t

That's true, but given that pinch to zoom is nearly ubiquitous, and given that the double tap gesture requires a 300ms lag before responding to single taps, the Web would arguably be better without it.

Backtracking is required in a lot of cases. Consider matching the pattern /^(AA|AB)*$/ against the string "AAAAAAAAB". Before it can come up with the answer (it doesn't match) the engine has to backtrack all the way

Promises are certainly better than promise-free 2005 style callback code, but they do require that you reimplement language features like try/catch. Yield allows you to do asynchronous try/catch, which doesn't depend on some

O(1), or O(log N)? Small difference but I was just having this argument yesterday. Each reallocation takes O(1) time (we assume), and you need O(log N) reallocations to grow by a cumulative factor of N.

There seem to be two major ideas going on here: CSP, and modifications to try/catch syntax. It would be easier to understand the former without the latter.
