I totally agree. I can't stand people who put random crap in their Facebook names (and actually tend to unfriend them.) Similarly, I religiously give everybody on my IM buddy list their real name. I would go crazy if everyday I only saw pse

For the most part, I think that Google's crackdown on pseudonyms and anonymity is actually a good thing. In most cases, anonymity online brings out the worst of us—just look at 4chan, littered with mobs of minions proliferating senseless

You think too much. Usually, the simplest explanation is also the correct one. I put my money on retarded auditor who thinks he's more clever and powerful than he is.

Can we please not try to capitalize on the linkbait value of a major terrorist incident? Seriously, some stories do not have any technological aspect and I find stories like this to be extremely disrespectful of the people who had their l

For me, the brilliant idea behind Color, (which they did absolutely not realize in their app), is the idea of an elastic social network. In real like, friendship isn't binary. It's a scale of how close we are, what we talk about, what we sh

I actually find it distracting. There was another style Apache Index that looked quite gorgeous. It wasn't fancy, none of that JS / HTML5 stuff, but it was fast and pretty. I don't recall what it was called. If anybody knows the link?

Both of these points are fair. To me, personally, neither matter, but if you're into SCSS then CSSEdit probably isn't the right choice for you.

1) Wait, they're up to Firefox 8 now? I thought I heard something about Firefox 5 coming out a couple weeks ago. 2) Wait, they're still mainly 32-bit? People still use 32-bit computers? Maybe that's my being a Mac user, but I don't think I

Not to rain on WebPutty's parade (I think it's a great app, and it looks sweet), but I think the problem has been solved much more elegantly a long time ago by CSSEdit: [1] http://macrabbit.com/cssedit/ It's a really great app. Forget abo

Not to mention, some of the functions return an array, and some of the functions act of the array passed as argument. Unless you remember exactly, you'll constantly be checking the doc to verify the method does what you think it does.

Wow! I think I just came. Seriously, unit testing in iOS is not great, and this kind of simulation is exactly what we need. Regular unit tests are great for model-layer stuff and data-processing code, but they will not help with most real-w

Being forever backward-compatible is a curse that prevents innovation and makes you end up with the mess of a language that PHP is.

This is the kind of mess when you have 5 different libraries to do the same thing. PHP should never have allowed there to be multiple MySQL, Mamcache, etc. extensions. Instead, they should have introduced the new libraries in a big version

They seriously need to work on their communication skills. It took me a good 15min to figure out what this thing actually does. And I'm still not sure I got it right. OpenID failed because it was too complicated for mere mortals. This, I fe

I think the sentencing is completely fair. It's not really about the cracking or emailing threats or any of that. It's about emotional torture. Yes, that's a thing, and it's a serious offense. I can't think of a more traumatic experience fo

I'm very impressed that the victim's law firm employer gave him the benefit of the doubt, and hired a forensics firm to get to the bottom of it. In this day and age, expectations of loyalty from companies to their employees are very very lo

People don't care about privacy. I'll gladly tell Google about youporn.com in exchange for its great user experience. Also, people who know or care about sync keys also know how to use private browsing.

I think it's great that people are starting to have a little more appreciation for design. The new logo is quite good, and I'm very glad they worked with a skilled designer rather than just throw the task at the 99design pool.

Congratulations, that's an incredible success and I think you've been very lucky. If you don't mind, I have a couple more questions: * How good are the margins? How much of that is profit? * How are you guys financed? VC or bootstrapped? *

You have to be kidding me, right? This app is so bloated and unpolished—it really doesn't feel like it belongs on the Mac. I'll take OSX Lion's sleek Terminal.app over iTerm any day. My favorite new feature, it lets you customize ANSI color

There's nothing inherently wrong about using the PHP language or the MySQL RDBMS to build a secure website. Most of the terrible code on the internet is in PHP/MySQL, and most of the PHP/MySQL code is terrible—but that is not a deficiency o
