Interesting that this is seen as a negative, C# has getters/setters that look like property access, but I don’t think I ever heard anyone complain about this.

Not something I need, but it’s a really cool idea, especially for people struggling with nutrition. One feature suggestion would be to accommodate specific diets (keto, vegan, etc.) and generally allow excluding food (e.g. I hate the taste

I agree with your first part, but not with your second. It really depends what you use, you can easily build up a while home automation system that doesn't phone home or require internet at all

In my case, it’s actually using it as a bot one can talk to in two twitch chats I mod. One is a foodtruck, which works well enough with OpenAI, the other one is a blue plushie penis called Scomo, and that’s the one where OpenAI is difficult

I realize that by using them for entertainment, I'm not exactly a normal user, but Mistral has been such a breath of fresh air. With OpenAI it was always fighting against the model, making it useable despite all the "I can't

Yeah, I saw that. I’d like a combination of both :D But it will be at least another, maybe 2-3 years, so who knows what they’ll have out by then. I’d also have to check the support story.

Ohh, that looks awesome. A bit thick, but otherwise great! My current one is only 2 years old, but I’m saving this.

Agreed. I don’t mind the term, but it also sounds emotionless to me, like corporate speech. Something I’d expect in a press release. I’m not a native speaker.

Even if I were to ever use an iPhone (which I won’t), it bulks up phones even more. I already find modern phones far too large. I was thinking more of something like the Nokia E71 [0] or for a bigger screen, a slide out like the HTC Desire

While it’s nice (nowadays, many keyboards actually support "swiping), it still gets so much wrong, and accuracy plummets for bilingual writing (For myself, I decided that the annoyance of getting nothing right because I’m in the wrong

I don't use telegram, but I know others who do, and there are certainly general group chats, though I mostly hear about conspiracy people and crypto. For discord, it's always an external community for my servers. Either software (

It's a paid search engine, and not a cheap one. Not exactly mass market material ;) and I'd assume the percentage of HN users is rather high, hence a lot of comments from us, here.

Few do, sadly. And complaining about it on hn might even get you belittled and down voted. And gifs never get blocked by it, so i use an extra extension for that.

It depends. For example for Kitchenware (not electronics), I’m very happy with German company Rösle. Usually the most expensive, but always high quality.

My main issue is usually that it’s so hard to tell if something is cheap but costs a lot, or if it costs a lot because it’s not cheap. Probably also partially because of price anchoring, where products seem expensive, because many very chea

Still nothing here. I had the nag-screen when it originally appeared, did the setup for uBo as explained in the reddit thread (without deleting anything, so actually just adding one list), and it’s been no issues whatsoever since.

When we first got Internet at home (also Germany), it was ISDN, but only single channel. So being connected meant not being reachable by phone. That meant my mom strictly limited our Internet access to 1-2 hours a day. I was so glad when we
