Literally the first result on the site I checked [0], solid wood table on sale for 339 €. Do you want to move the goalposts even further? [0]: https://www.otto.de/p/gozos-esstisch-scots-pine-series-essti...

What? I bought a bed last year. It’s solid wood, only the bottom of the under-bed-drawers being some kind of glued material. And it wasn’t even some super high-end thing, including the drawers, I paid just below 1000 € for it. When searchin

The percentage of HN users in their customer base is very probably far higher than the percentage of HN users in the general population. Many orders of magnitude ;)

I prefer billboards, but I think that’s probably because they are exotic for me. We don’t really have them in Germany (or at least where I am), so when I see them in South Africa, they are always this cool and interesting thing.

How? For the vast, vast majority of people, paying for search is insane. And that includes the people who pay for other services.

So does the author. But then I also don’t care about the author and don’t pay them for my search engine :/

Even setting aside languages spoken in multiple places, please leave the accept language header to languages, not regions. I have en us, because that's the language I want, but I've never been in the US and probably never will.

Thanks, but I just switched back. Just far too bad performance (for my use case of ten-thousands of mails in subfolders), and as a bonus a spam filter that ignores actual spam, but marks real mails as spam consistently. The interface is far

Yeah, never had headphone jack issues, it was always the USB port, including with type C now. Sounds like a ridiculous assertion to me, but maybe I use my phone differently.

Ouch, that sounds painful. Permanent residency took 1.5 months and only required one more visit once everything was done.

What works well for me is a metal discord community (run by writers of a review blog [0]). Tons of interesting recommendations, including sometimes non-metal stuff, my favorite album of the year so far is chamber folk / Americana [1].

Not myself, but I accompanied my wife every time, and she’s now a permanent resident. The last time we just wanted to extend her temporary residence permit, they even advised us that we have no reason to do that and could just apply for per

The immigration office in Lübeck, STB inner city, is overworked like everywhere, but they are competent, friendly, and decently digitalized. From what a US friend of mine who lived in many cities in Germany told me, it’s pretty much an exce

If you root, you can bypass those issues in most cases. I have 3 apps detecting it, that I can bypass, and only the German health insurance app from TK detects it (according to the internet, it's getting past most solutions somehow). I

I use outlook for work mails and tried new outlook for a short while. It’s like an alpha version, it’s not even close to feature parity, a pure showcase for a new design. If it ever becomes the only version, I’m switching to thunderbird.

It does support batch rename, though. And generally I want to resize images while looking at them, and not go elsewhere for that. But only when I want it to, no automation.

Only speaking for myself: I love reading, always loved reading. I read a lot, and I read every day. It’s one of my most important things in life. I’m guessing doing something that much just comes with improvements.

Is this supposed to help focus and get deeper understanding of long texts? Because it’s slowing me way down, changing my extremely fast reading mode that often looks forward a bit for improved context, to a more word-by-word style of readin

Interesting. With older music, it’s kinda expected, as (especially church) songs often have "to the melody of" parts. Just did not think it would be the same for contemporary.
