Huh. I thought the big fat DRM warning was from Steam, but after your post and before replying, I checked without extensions, and it didn’t show up. So this is actually a feature of the Augmented Steam extension [0]: https://i.im

Just to clarify what is what: Avalonia UI is free, what is expensive is their XPF solution, which allows you to get free cross-platform features for your existing WPF app. So this is very much targeted at companies with legacy code that the

The Neo-Bank I use in Germany (N26) works similarly. 3 or 5 fee-eaten withdrawals per month, but the always free option is supermarket registers. There’s a large network of supermarkets that are connected to the network, and I can generate

That’s what I was thinking. I mean, sure, I’d wish all our code was modern and new, but it’s not. And I can’t just magically make everything async, yet many devs *including MS* think modern code should not offer synchronous APIs. And so I n

I’m 38, and I don’t think my exposure to and discovery of music has ever been so high. I joined a metal discord last year (though my favorite album of the year so far is actually chamber folk / Americana from a recommendation there): *

We used to have those in Germany, but most stores abandoned that approach in favor of registers weighing the produce. I think the only ones I know that still do it with customer scales are CITTI and Real.

There was a video posted when discussed half a year ago [0], that shows their even cooler "blood-delivery-via-catapulted-drone" in Rwanda. One of the very few times I actually watched a video. [0] https://news.ycombinat

That sounds horrible, none of the ones I tried (3 different stores, technically also Ikea, but that was several years ago, and I can’t remember how it worked) have that issue.

We recently got self-checkout at our local supermarket (REWE). The system itself is mostly fine, no distractions, and a clear screen, payment also works just like at the normal register. One Software issue is probably not one for most, but

It’s a bit different, but Indian extreme metal label Transcending Obscurity has had several bands release two days early on bandcamp (I know for sure about Vorga [0] and Replicant [1]), and indie black metal band Adon [2] simply decided to

Yeah, I love that stack. I then rsync those backups to backblaze. No issues, single machine, no fucking around with stuff like kubernetes (and I also got rid of docker, so that annoyance is also gone)

While I agree, it usually seems the majority of HN does not, and sees it as promoting the boring corporate web of today instead of the creativity of MySpace/Geocities pages -.- Accessibility is often frowned upon by commenters.
