   So it seems like an invalid number just sets the number guessed to the actual number, but carry's on executing as if you need to pick a lower number. Why would it work like that!?

   I agree with what you are saying. I cannot see why this chap deserved such backlash and hatred from the community, especially one that has always made a point of ensuring things are open and people have a right to a well constructed opinion
