I use Alpine for the VM at the heart of my GPL WordPress tool InstantWP ( https://www.instantwp.com ). I spent six months reviewing all the smaller distributions of Linux until I found one that would boot fast enough to be usable

I am sorry but that doing experiments like this on a living, breathing primate is sick. Surely there is somebody working on a way to develop mind-computer interfaces that doesn't rely on inflicting this kind of suffering on intelligent soci

Hah! As someone who is nearing their forties I find this Silicon Value obsession with youth quite interesting. I live in Ireland and I have never even been in the States, so my opinions should be taken with a pinch of salt :) I know of plen

Here here. I have worked in places where they had a bog standard waterfall development process but used agile buzz-words like 'story'. The result? Can you imagine a cross between a giraffe and an car sized amoeba? Yikes.

How about cringeworthy? Def: Causing feelings of embarrassment or awkwardness I could feel my toes curling at certain points. Funny, but not perhaps what was intended...

Some of the comments seem to revolve around the confusion of maps with territory - CF Lewis Carroll's map "the scale of a mile to the mile" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Map%E2%80%93territory_relation#...

How about Runtime Revolutions LiveCode? I have been a fan for years - never used the mobile version but they are a great little company and their other products rock. LiveCode is an offshoot of the HyperCard codebase and will run on everyth

Lets make a huge distinction between a people (The American People) and a political power structure (The USA). Look at the Irish people (generally a decent lot) and the Irish State (mostly a basket case morally and financially). People are

Whoops! Well spotted. Somebody committed a political faux pas there. All these wet rainy island nations in the North Atlantic tend to blur together obviously... It is interesting for me as an Irish person to see this brought up as our gover

Jeese - this is a tough crowd. I can think of several Irish businesses that I have worked for that would grab this guy straight away to train him. He may not be the worlds greatest programmer (he does not claim to be) but his attitude is gr

Pity - I have been a fan of RunRev for years. Their software is great and their customer service even better. Maybe it's time that the Linux/Android wing of their products becomes the main focus. Apple does not seem to care that they are lo

Trapped by a metaphor... a mind is like a computer, but a mind is not a computer. If you build a fast computer model of a mind, then you have - wait for it! - a fast computer model of a mind! Sentience is more than just a matter of modell

Yes, I agree. 37s have become a slight parody of themselves. They used to point and laugh about how web business was done in an 'enterprisey' way by their example company Enormicon (I think it was called). Now we have a set of cliches for a
