Why is that a "question to Americans"? I would assume that any "elected official" would be subject to this. The question, as worded, implies that American elected officials are less trusted than elected officials elsewhe

The problem with questions like this is that, if you actually did get people sharing quality responses of where to go (and there are good alternatives), there's no way to filter who sees those links. In other words, the people who yo

Yeah, actually. It's called Hacker News. You may have heard of it. What an absolute snot-nose way to talk to people, not just as an opening sentence but in general. There's no need for that here or elsewhere.

I laughed. I'd guess you were downvoted by either (a) someone with no sense of humor, or (b) someone who knows nothing about Zynga's history, or I suppose (c) a Zynga employee.

That's so funny - just like @joshdance said, I always read it as "Codeacademy". At least you have both URLs. I'd love to see a blog post one day that explains why you've chosen this name vs. that name. Co-decademy i

Wow - me too. If you actually go to http://www.codeacademy.com/ , it forwards you to this URL. I don't know if this is "new" or not.

I'm trying to understand Google's thinking here. The first thing I thought was, "If I'm sending mass emails, I already have tracking URLs set up through whatever mass email company I'm using, right? So what's t

Could be a bug in your web browser. I got that part, I'm talking about your first sentence. ... anyone who has run an email server... would say the same. This reads as though you agree that "IP blacklists are a waste of everyo

I think we'd all rather "sift through a little spam than lose something I wanted" but my guess is that you've never run an email server. "a little spam" is not what you will get - it will be orders of magnitude

I can't tell whether you agree with the OP or with my comment. Your first sentence argues that OP is right - "IP blacklists are a waste of everyone's time". Your second sentence though is "it is clear that blacklist

This sort of vague comment with no substance is just opinion stated as fact. If you have more information - hell, even a more expressed opinion, I'd be interested. As expressed, however, it's a garbage comment that waste's ev

With the new search engine, you can easily add "ask hn" to any keyword you want and just use that as a filter - https://hn.algolia.com/?q=password+manager#!/story/forever/0...

But lots of users say things like "Galaxy S5? Is that the new Droid?" I have a hard time with that. The question itself implies that there are lots of users who know what "Droid" is but don't know what a Samsung

Here's one issue that Microsoft has to deal with - my Mom asked me, "What is Windows Phone 8.1 - is that the new Windows phone?" Stop and think about that question from a non-tech perspective. My mom (or yours) likely has no

You might want to also check the site search for past entries. This question comes up at least monthly here in an Ask HN: format. Heartbleed hasn't changed which password manager I've used but that's b/c mine is offline.

Can you explain what led you to post this on HN? Maybe the Skype team are regular contributors here - I don't know.

I think that, if HN was split into subforums where I could choose to visit a particular topic, that would be fine. For example, if there were five subforums (like below), users could either visit those subforums or not as per their choice:

I don't really know how to "answer" here. Do what you want in the manner you want to do it. At some point, you have to question the "Why am I interested in doing this?" question. Is it ego? Is it to be helpful? Is i
