I only have not-nice things to say about Node, JavaScript, and its ecosystem, The NPM ecosystem can be frustrating and annoying sometimes but today nodejs is a solid server runtime.

CockroachDB has always had a reputation of being slow, 10x-20x slower than the same operation being made in Postgres, with this and the issues about binary size, was a GC language like Go the right choice for CK? Would you have pick somethi

The lesson for me is that this particular problem is exceptionally well suited for imperative code, and makes functional code look terrible in comparison. This is the case for 80% of real world code in IME.

Yep, I vastly prefer Clojure over JS/Python as a programming language but I'll pick JS/TS/Python first any day for real apps for the reasons you mention.

"the application's entire data model is a big indistinguishable ball of mud," seems to be commenting discipline. And commenting discipline is always terrible. From Rich Hickey's "History of Clojure"[1]: Not

The benefits of using Clojurescript over JS/TS in 2021 are superficial and not worth it IMO. Typescript is great, has good tooling and plays nice with the JS ecosystem. With Clojurescript you spent more time fighting integration with t

Only the zealots are left using it. You can see this in how many Clojure posts make it to the front page but have very little comments.

I really don't see what's promising about prisma. Lots of condescending stuff in their docs making SQL sound as something only a few can learn. It's extremely over-hyped, immature and buggy. But they are a startup so...
