Clojurescript still has the annoying problem of having to convert between the two language data structures. So even with shadow-cljs(no idea how good it is) Cljs is no smooth sailing either. Immer seems to be the best compromise and more er

This, the article misses the point entirely. Either the author already knew that and used it as an opportunity to show off or has a low level common sense.

Python is easy to get started with and has syntax that's nice to look at, easy/nice almost always wins over better. So now the issue is many have to keep using Python because of the ecosystem not because they find the language goo

How do you create structure data with ZIP? why incorporate its 200k SLOC when the alternatives are a fraction of the size? Performance, ACID and a superior declarative query language.

That feature is one of the reasons for Javascript's flexibility, many hate JS in beginning but then they start to appreciate the advantages of this features and start to like the language.

The performance difference between Clojure and the pure Java implementations was much smaller than I'd thought. Quite amazing for a dynamically typed language to get so close to Java in performance, to be honest. That's not surp

If you are prototyping a local file will do, or store json in a text field in sqlite, or in a json column in postgres. You will even have more flexibility than mongo since you will not have the constraint of their document data model.

Any data can be serialized with JSON. Yep, by writing ad-hoc and context-dependent formats on top of JSON for every language on your system. JSON set of types are just too limited.

There's no good way to extend abstract classes. If you're using proxy, you pay a large performance penalty, and you can't call protected superclass methods or access protected superclass fields without using reflection. gen-c

Showcasing Clojure's Java interop with the java.time library is IMO pretty disingenuous. That's a pretty good modern library with a great API conformed completely of immutable classes, most Java libs are not like that.

Funny, the only reason this is news is because Clojure and its ecosystem has become completely stagnated, you can only survive through the painful process of doing interop with Java libraries all the time, which defeats the whole purpose of
