VSCode is the exception not the rule. It's an exception because it has a large engineering team behind it doing thousands of micro-optimizations.

Why use the language with the most horrible startup time for a GUI framework though? The core might be C/C++, but users will write their app in Clojure. GraalVM also still has big limitations.

Maybe the key word here is 'exhaustive' What did stand out for me from that section was: This is fine for simple queries, but provides little in the way of confidence that queries actually work. Why not just paste the string fir

I’ve found incredible success using JS (TS) as a functional language. Oh my god I love it. Immutability is still very tedious and kludgy.

You have it backwards, Go gives you the illusion that is easy (easy to start with, quick to start coding something in it) but is no simple. Writing simple systems is hard and Go works against you here.

To play off your example, list comprehensions are a nice one liner. In Python, you can do in one line what Go takes 10x more lines for. I still prefer Go, despite it feeling like shackles at time to write. Why would you prefer 10k lines o

Safe programming languages solve the easy problems: memory leaks, use-after-free errors, array overruns, etc. At least with visual studio I agree these are trivial to check for and solve.

It's built-in, you can add tags when you create a bookmark in firefox and yep, that tab grouping feature would be nice, Chrome has tab groups and you can name so it gets close.
