Yes, in many countries in Europe, the industry wide unions negotiate with representatives of the industry employers, and government can declare the deal binding for all companies of a certain size in the industry. Also if workers go on stri

They're not deciding anything there, the group is way too large for that. It's a networking event, people are getting to know other people. I mean, I find the existence of a class of incredibly super rich people just evil, but not

But in order to close the deal you have to agree as well, it's not only up to the recruiter. So if you are only prepared to go for jobs that pay 300k, why not tell the recruiter that?

Well, I still care about my salary and need to negotiate it. Just in the context of a single job that I would like to have. The article is supposedly about salary negotiation, but it only considers the case where all jobs are interchangeab

So weird to me to focus so much on the money. I care about what the company does and what I'll be contributing to that much more. Choosing based on salary offered seems like a recipe to always be in jobs you hate. Also, I usually have

It costs some money to have a bank account, bank transfers don't have a fee associated with them. Card processing costs a small fee. Cheaper than handling cash though.

Maybe in the US. My bank has 27 offices left in the entire Netherlands, and I don't think many of them take cash. I wouldn't even know how to get 3000 euro in cash into my bank account these days.

Of course people spend that regularly, but not with cash.

Government insures personal bank accounts up to 100k euro. You have your 10k.

Yeah, and your income is also none of our business, we just have to blindly trust what you fill in on the tax form? There's way too much fraud around, government unfortunately cannot blindly trust everybody.

Of course it needs to exist, but at the same time using it for huge numbers like 3000+ euros is in practice almost only done by criminals. It's a good balance imo.

They can already do that by rationing meat, like they did in WW2. Require that you have the correct stamps for buying what you want. Or probably introduce some horrible mobile app for it. No need to outlaw cash for that.

I don't have an argument either, just a strong feeling that animals who show signs of emotions, playing etc and are very similar to us biologically, probably have a subjective experience. I would be astonished if they didn't. But

There are many animals (including many mammals) that don't recognize themselves in mirrors, and are therefore usually assumed not to have self awareness. It'd be weird to me if they didn't have qualitative experiences though.

I don't think consciousness by itself should equal rights. A crucial difference between AI and biological life is that biological life has wants and needs. It wants to keep living, it has feelings and emotions, because that's how

AHN2 was measured between 2007 and 2012. AHN3 from 2014 to 2019 and I believe AHN4 is actually complete now (measured from 2021 to 2022?). Better resolution, more up to date -- but I don't know of such a nice point cloud viewer for it.

Maybe it's the difference between trying to sound friendly and actually being friendly. If it's noticeable that someone is using an unusual way of talking, the first impression is that it's merely the first, and insincere.
