Personally, I use physical card for my main SIM. However, when I travel I prefer using eSIMs as it is so much easier rather than searching for one when you arrive in a new country. I definitely had some set up problems regarding travel eSIM

It is definitely tough to choose, I don't know if you should discard nord vpn so quickly, recently they've been doing 3-rd party audits that proved they don't keep logs. That has to count for something right?

Nord has worked quite well for me for the last couple of months. It's easy to use and has plenty of servers to choose from. I guess I can recommend it even though I haven't tried other vpn services.

Looks like the user just can't win - either we get super annoying and intrusive ads or poorly written ad code that slows downs pages and ruins the experience.
