Garmin is a little bit closed off, that's the main downside. And as far as I can tell their app needs internet to sync data from the watch even though it's connected via bluetooth, I assume it's uploading to their servers for

Garmin. They've got models with various kinds of displays, from transflective outdoor usable ones to the usual OLED. Battery life on the non-OLED models can be very good too, especially on the solar ones, a month or more in most cases.

3GB RAM is wildly low when most Android phones have 8-12GB these days. And the Pinephone is running much heavier software.

I've tried OLS before, but it's always slower than my nginx setups for general page load times. nginx + cache is a nice simple solution that just works well.

It's wild that a Pi now uses more power than a box with a U/T sku Intel CPU! Combined with the high prices it has pushed me completely away from the Pi.

This is neat, but using an off the shelf power bank and keeping it plugged in is going to destroy the battery in a year or two. Those Li-ion pouch cells deteriorate rapidly at 100% charge, especially in a warm environment. It's better

The API would have the same delay and issues though, wouldn't it?

It's bizarre to me that an app would just say it's offline and refuse to function because some system API said it had no connection. Why not ditch the connectivity check and just try connecting and time out like a browser does?

I find OSM maps in general have trouble showing labels, you often have to zoom in an extreme amount to see them, and you usually can't even click on features to see what they are.

Every chrome/chromium browser seems to do it too, always have to go toggle it off when I install one to test sites on.

Most personal devices now use randomized MACs so it's hard to ID them. You can go via IP though, pull up your DHCP lease on your phone/laptop/whatever and match it to the same IP in Unifi, then manually name the device.

Fair, although I feel like if you're doing that level of IO you probably want actual enterprise hardware or something.

With 10GbE networking would it even matter much? You'll be capped at 1,250MB/s by the network, so PCIe 3.0 x2 will still be enough for that.

To be fair the CPU voltage regulators are already there, all this would require is adding a small 5V and 3.3V stage on as well. Since most of the power goes to the CPU.

You can enable "remote access" (or maybe it's on by default, don't remember), that does something to allow remote access to your setup with your unifi account, probably tunnels it through unifi servers. It's an opti

The only screen that would be nice is a small diagnostics one that shows trouble codes, and some live info like temperatures and sensor voltages.

Does peertube support using another host as a dedicated P2P peer, and it would load balance over available hosts? I feel like I looked into that before and it was only clients watching the video that could do it. But if it can now, that wou

Can you explain it a little? Because I'm not sure I get it. As far as I know peertube is centralized with a P2P element on top, but P2P only works if at least one side has an open port.

How do we distribute the cost? Say a popular creator uploads a video to a peertube instance and gets 10 million views, the video is 10 minutes and 15mbps bitrate, that's roughly 10 petabytes of data the peertube server needs to send. I

Yeah I addressed that in my comment too. The link you sent doesn't show any data that I can see? It would be neat to see someone actually test peertube under heavy load with data to back it up.

What about someone who gets several million views per video they upload? You would need one hell of a peertube instance with a great CDN to manage that so people all over the world can watch it without constant buffering. Peertube technical

Peertube is just self hosted video hosting. You either need to pay someone a lot of money to host it for you, or do it yourself with the constant maintenance that comes with it.

No it's due to nextclouds crazy AIO container that creates other containers automatically, and hides the entire process from the user so there's no easy way to diagnose issues.
