It's interesting, I guess it could be considered more ugly, but it's also much easier to read now. I can near-instantly locate roads and stuff around me from a glance, whereas before it took a lot of hunting around.

Closed loop control of brushless motors is just more complex, in addition to needing 3 phase AC output, you also need either hall sensors or an encoder of some kind to be able to start the motor smoothly, and you need a dedicated IC or MCU

Wow that looks like a bad one. I'm glad I access my home stuff via VPN because worrying about things like this would be stressful!

Yeah the control you get over Linux is both good and bad. You can pretty much get it to work exactly how you want, but getting there is very complex, and remembering CLI commands is extremely difficult for me even after many years of doing

FYI you no longer need a Coral, frigate now supports OpenVINO on intel iGPUs and it works as good or better than a Coral

Not too great on steeper hills due to having a hub motor, but the trade-off is hub motors are really cheap.

It's meant for gaming with minimal input lag, so I suspect it would be better but much higher bandwidth usage too. RDP is generally the best for low bandwidth (at least with a windows host) because it sends only the updated elements of

This is no longer the case on recent versions of windows 11, if there is no connection it will simply block you from setting up until you connect to the internet. There is a way to bypass it on W11 Pro, you have to boot with ethernet discon

What's the advantage of more than 1080p on a 13-14" screen? Genuine question. I have 4k for my desktop but that's a 27" monitor. Wouldn't pushing 4k on a laptop reduce the battery life even more?

It's still an expensive vehicle either way, my total avg car maintenance cost + fuel is about $120/month, an EV is just far too expensive to think about.

No, but workbench stuff like this would be powered on when you're actively there and working on something, so if it did go pop and potentially catch fire at least you're nearby.

It's kind of surprising that Intel (or I guess x86 in general) still has basic issues with sleep, laptops waking up in your bag and that kind of thing. The forced modern standby thing they're doing has only made it worse.

That's extra odd since Chrome seems to sync those just fine, and iirc Vivaldi uses the same engine? I have the same complaint with Firefox too though, it doesn't sync settings and layouts properly.

All good points, I've seen some sites with every plugin years out of date when I've helped friends with theirs, weak passwords, that sort of thing. I've always done my own hosting too, just a minimal setup of nginx, php-fpm,

Surprisingly I've run a handful of WordPress sites for 10+ years now, some with quite a few plugins for e-commerce stuff, and haven't had any issues with sites getting hacked. I mostly think it's due to updating quickly, gene

There is a huge benefit IMO to trimming down which apps are allowed to send notifications, and running your phone in DND mode all the time. I set exceptions for calls from family, since those are usually a fairly urgent thing.

Are the desktop apps open source too? I have a faint memory of only their document server being open source or something like that.
