I think it is something people can get used to quite quickly. If you look at the Romans, taking a dump surrounded by your friends in one of the Bath Houses was a good part of the day, so its not like abluting in public is something we are i

Sane people can, and often do choose to do things which could be considered worse than a few months in a Swedish jail. Given a choice between a Swedish jail and a tour in Iraq, I would choose jail. But then I am not American, or Swedish.

This is precisely what happened to me, and the reason I ditched git for Hg in my most recent project. I am not doing anything large enough to warrant paying for a GitHub account at the moment, and its not because I am cheap - its because I

The range of opinions which you access by posting a question like this on HN can have more value than the rationale page on the Clojure website. That is to say, the reason for asking a question like this is not always laziness.

Type about:config in the address bar and accept the consequences. Then find the general:autoscroll property and enable it. Doing this should disable that feature and enable autoscroll as a bonus.

It can't be much worse than exposure to the chemicals in most of our cleaning products.

I know this is from physorg, but after the second paragraph I was reading it in a Billy Mays voice. Still, it sounds interesting, and if it works as they say it does, I imagine it will become quite ubiquitous.

I am glad to see that the replies here have been humerous - Hackernews can be a little too serious sometimes.

Quite a good explantion - the idea of having immutable data is a really strange one to wrap your head around when you have been doing OO for most of your career. I'm just getting into clisp (I read somewhere that it is inevitable that every

Thanks, but as I understand it, the reason they ejected one of the apps was because they were possibly afraid of getting sued - which seems strange to me.

Perhaps I should rather have said "The word hacker will never be fully reclaimed".

Its time to accept that the meaning of the word hacker has changed.

I am not American, so I need to ask - why would Apple be worried about litigation? I don't see how a widget shop can be sued for selling a product when there is a dispute between two widget manufacturers.

AppBox doesn't even mention which of their "copyrights" has been infringed, and when looking at the side by side comparison screenshot, and reading their complaint - I get the feeling they are acting like kids.

The videos were a lot easier to digest than reading the first few chapters of some lisp book, but I understand that if you aren't excited by learning about new languages, then this would seem dull.

It takes a while to fully grok git, but I recently found a really good presentation which has helped my co-workers get up to speed really quickly. The most important tip for understanding git is probably to actually start using it. edit: Fo

Thats a lot of writing to explain a diagram which explains itself perfectly well. That said, it still looks like a great way to handle branches!

They are both awesome videos which can get anyone excited about lisp. I know this, because an hour ago I had only a passing interest in Lisp.

I would have to disagree with you when you say there are no bad tools. Try frame a house using a brick, or perhaps a sledgehammer. Software is the same, for example, C is a bad language to use when creating a website, its possible, but not
