Ok, HN, I'm obviously missing something so please enlighten me. Why is this on the front page? I thought that it might be a joke as some people suggested , but it's not, there's an actual app that you can download on iTunes. So... I just do

I'm confused as to why you think that you're not a programmer. I think it's awesome that you've become such a master with your development environment that you're able to integrate various functionalities not normally found in mere text edi

I'd be genuinely interested in reading a paper on what impact these methodologies have on software development. Does anybody know of any research on this topic?

You're confusing hypothesis with theory. Hypothesis is a proposed explanation that can be tested (i.e. is falsifiable). Theory, on the other hand, is a hypothesis that has undergone extensive testing and has been proven to be a plausible ex

I just had to check which rules apply to some other words, like 'stadium' and 'forum'. Turns out that both 'stadiums' and 'stadia' are valid plurals of 'stadium' while 'forums' is the preferred plural of 'forum', although 'fora' is not inco

The point is that you need to be well acquainted with the problem that you're trying to solve. If you're developing a new network protocol then yes, you don't need to know what kind of information is going to flow through the network, you n

I didn't get the feeling that aw3c2 was being a jerk. The demo really does use sprites ripped from Diablo and it's in alpha quality. I could neither move nor attack, all I could do is watch that first monster attack me and wait while it com

Surely there are better ways to deal with this problem. Different languages have different solutions for this, but completely breaking the naming conventions doesn't seem like the way to go.

Leiningen, AFAIK, uses Maven under the hood. And I don't really think that people don't appreciate Maven enough, most people consider it to be a great tool. That being said, I've used both Maven (at my job) and Leiningen (for my personal pr

While I agree with you that there should be more than one way to solve a problem (although I wouldn't say Java's philosophy is against that), when it comes to actually writing code, I want to have one clear and understandable way in which s
