Is there a mandated state ratio of workers to children? In Michigan, by law, it is 1:4. It is great to offer free childcare to all citizens, but if those childcare facilities are inadequately resourced the quality of care will decline.

Assuming you are in the States, it would be cheaper to enroll in one course a year and use the universities library system to get the papers you need. What always bothered me about those though is their terribly clunky UI, dozens of redirec

The only way I’ve ever seen engineers care about PR’s is if the software or product is tied directly to their paycheck. If uptime or bugs directly impact a quarterly bonus, or result in a layoff / getting fired, they spend a lot more t

The cited article is a better source, and it was written a month ago. I am not sure why this is making the rounds now. They cite 99.9%, and “reduce the risk”, not 100% like this sub article claims. https://www.gilead.com/new

Ideally the git history provides the “why was this test written”, however if you have one Jira card tied to 500+ AI generated tests, it’s not terribly helpful.

It also makes the code easier to read, and that is what our org optimizes for, all else being equal. Code is read 10x more than it is modified, so if you can make it a little quicker to understand it’s generally recommended.

As a new parent, it’s money. Daycare costs $400 USD per week in my area, from 7am-6pm, 5 days a week. So for one child that is roughly 20,000 USD annually. Once you hit the 3-5 kid mark, it usually does not make sense for the spouse to work
