The book "The Red Queen" by Matt Ridley goes into depth about how men and women choose their mates, based largely on evolutionary biology. People treat it like a character flaw for a woman to choose a man based on wealth and statu

True, but considering how long ago the designation "high frequency" was made, it's understandable. AM was extremely low frequency (~1 MHz), but that was what they were comparing against when they started using higher frequenc

Probably yes. In fact, a censorship-resistant marketplace that allows for asynchronous trade already exists built on top of IPFS. It's called OpenBazaar. https://github.com/OpenBazaar/openbazaar-go

If you like these books I'd highly recommended two more. Rational Optimist by Matt Ridley. More from Less by Andrew McAfee.

Wrong Pinker book. Taleb took issue with Better Angels of Our Nature, which is Pinker's book about the decline of violence. Enlightenment Now is different. Taleb might also have opposed that book (he likes to pick fights) but that'

I learned with GW-BASIC and made a text based adventure game. I wish it was still floating around the internet today but alas I believe I wrote it before we got online and it didn't survive.

The parent comment is still accurate. IPFS isn't a blockchain and shouldn't be dismissed for this use case, which is more or less what it was designed for. Filecoin is just for incentives, but IPFS has been running for years witho

I use syncthing across various devices and organize a group of folders with markdown files in them, then view / edit them with a markdown editor. Super simple, free, and the best note system I've used so far.
